July 29, 201511 yr Highlands Class of '88.........his senior picture is pure 80's hair band material. He played in a band in HS called Turkey Lips with David Storm, Glenn Kukla, Jeff Hager. Mrs. Lawnboy's Senior yearbook came in handy. Good work Lawnboy. :thumb: Turkey Lips :lol2: What a name for a band... I wonder if more Bluebirds out here are aware of him, and that he's done well for himself in the international music scene? I don't personally know Chris, but when my friend brought his success to my attention years ago, I've been on and off following his career. I love seeing locals do well in the music world. Being an excellent guitarist, my friend coulda, shoulda followed in his footsteps and made a career of it as well. I thought for sure that he would because aside from his guitar prowess he was a walking encyclopedia of all things guitar and equipment etc... From childhood on he breathed and slept playing, and even won a local guitar competition that lead him to coming in 6th place in the Ohio competition where David T. Chastain was a judge. He has still jammed with locals over the years in cover bands now and again, but I can't help but to think just how far he could've taken it. I have a bass player friend in the same boat who was way better than average being schooled on stuff like Geddy Lee of Rush and many of the other greats. They both married and had a kid, and although happy some of the time with that, they have dramatic challenges regarding that as well. One's 50 now and the other is approaching 50, so it's obviously all past them now. It's not for me to say as it's their life, but I can't help but wonder what could've been with their magnificent talents. Personally, I can barely call myself a guitarist because I severely lack knowledge and talent in that department, but for years I wrote tons of tunes with the limited amount of chords that I know and had some fun playing them at open mics etc... I had a dream and knew what steps I needed to follow to enhance my chances and what it would take to develop more ease in front of a crowd, but I became terribly lazy with it and watched it all just fade away. While I had hopes for my friends, it's hard for me to knock them when I didn't even walk the walk myself. I'm sure that they have regrets that haunt them as do I, but we all just sorta have to lay in the bed that we've made. At this point, although the dream was fun, the idea of touring pretty much wears me out and I'm not sure that I want to be the kind of person that is noticeable in public. I guess that if I had seen it all through I would have adapted to it all, and I'm probably just now making excuses to keep myself from crying my eyes out from not giving my dream a serious try.

I followed your link to his name and it looks like he's still active a lot as a producer for his own record label, and has continued to record here and there over the years. I guess that he's well known with guitar enthusiasts, but I was hoping that he'd become a more well known name in music than he has. He's really an awesome guitarist. I did catch Cinderella once with Billy Squier and Ratt. I believe that the show was at the Gardens. Good show and luckily we had decent close floor seats. I wonder if the Gardens are used for anything anymore? I never hear of anything happening there.

I went there with my dad and brother to watch NWA wrestling back when I was about 13 or 14. It was barely being used then, some 30 years ago. There are probably rats big enough in that place to beat up everybody else's dogs on here.

It's the home of the Cincinnati Thunder Hockey Team, and it looks like they also use it as the home for the Cincinnati Rollergirls, and an assortment of other events like Bull Riding and some concerts. Through some photos I've seen it also looks like the place has been restored and updated. It opened in 1949 and has a decent history, so I'm glad that they can still find use for it and that it had stood the test of time, considering the fickleness of modern culture always requiring everything to be new new new. Is it at least used for HS big events?
