July 22, 201511 yr Why are the Reds clinging to hacks like Axelrod, Adcock and Villareal. IMO they are no better no worse than LeCure. Of course a lot of this has to do with the fact that the farm system really sucks. Axelrod has appeared in one game so far this year. He pitched 2 scoreless innings & struck out three. Last year, he appeared in 5 games (and started 4 of them) with an ERA of 2.95. He went 2-1 last year. Not sure how you can be upset with him on the roster. Adcock has performed relatively well in AAA in 2014 (for Texas) and 2015 (for Cincinnati) where he was a decent closer. Admittedly, he has struggled thus far but I’d rather give him an opportunity to see what he can do than Lecure. On a side note, I didn’t realize he was from Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Villarreal stinks.
July 22, 201511 yr Zack Weiss needs to get the next opportunity out of the pen. I'm ready to see if he can get big league hitters out the same way he has A and AA hitters this season. He's 17 for 18 in save opps and has amazing strikeout numbers 58 in 41 innings with hitters hitting less than .200 off of him. Add him to the 40 man and let's see what he's got. He's one of the reds only true reliever prospects.
July 22, 201511 yr I know Mes was in the dugout on crutches last night I believe. That's all I've seen or heard. Cozart I haven't heard anything on but it looks like he's lost his Starting SS position and will need to be traded in the offseason. That or Phillips gets moved and Suarez moves to 2nd.
July 22, 201511 yr ^The smart thing to do would be to unload BP and move Suarez to 2nd. Which means there's no chance it happens. :lol2:

I don't really know which way I lean on that question. To the average baseball fan, and I could throw several stereotypes out there, but I think he brings a decent amount of excitement for those fans. Not saying that is the answer for the team being better, but could see Castellini loving him for it.

They have a bunch of idiots running the show.

July 22, 201511 yr Personally I love watching BP. Just wish he were a little cheaper due to his age and inconsistent bat. Dude can pick it like a champ though.

Not according to what Welsh said last night about Price's comments on Cozart. Price says he is still the starter when he returns next year. Welsh said he thought Suarez could make the move to left field rather easily.

Welsh said he thought Suarez could make the move to left field rather easily. Suarez is actually a slick fielder he's just not a great fielder right now because he struggles with the easy plays. That being said I could see Suarez being moved to left but I still think Cozart gets traded this offseason. Suarez is a definite upgrade offensively over Cozart and I think the Reds will have better options for LF going into next season than moving Suarez there. Winker, Rodriguez, Waldrop or someone acquired at this seasons deadline will be the LF. Of course this is assuming Billy holds onto his CF spot and Bruce doesn't get traded. Who knows there's even a chance Byrd is back, I doubt it but this is the Reds. Cozart was going downhill quick before his injury, he likely would've ended the season right around .250 avg with a .300 OBP which is about his norm. He isnt getting any younger either.
July 22, 201511 yr I have been less than impressed with Suarez defensively. Quite frankly, he's not a ML caliber SS defensively. But, he can hit, so he needs to be on the field. I'd move him to 2B or consider putting him at 3B/LF. With that said, Suarez made several pretty nice plays at SS last night. I was pleasantly surprised.
July 22, 201511 yr Hoover? that guy stinks. He may be worse than Villareal. What are you talking about? He's been outstanding all season long with last night being the exception.
