July 22, 201511 yr Hoover? that guy stinks. He may be worse than Villareal. Hoover had the second best era for relievers in the NL going into last night. He stunk last year, but has been great this year.
July 22, 201511 yr What are you talking about? He's been outstanding all season long with last night being the exception. Keep fighting the good fight. :thumb:
July 22, 201511 yr Mike Leake with a gem. 8 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 6 K....Retired I believe the last 16 batters he faced.
July 22, 201511 yr I saw where Reds scored 4 in the first, nice start. Leake with a great outing before he gets traded?
July 22, 201511 yr Todd Frazier deserves to be in the MVP discussions. I realize that the Reds won't win enough games for him to garner serious consideration, but the guy is flat out getting it done.

He'll finish somewhere in the 5-10 range in the voting which is probably an accurate representation of his season. NL Rankings: R - 4th H - 8th 2B - 1st HR - 2nd RBI - 6th Avg. - 28th OBP - 37th SLG - 5th OPS - 4th

An argument could be made for Arenado & Adrian Gonzalez, too.

I think you'll see those 4 all ahead of him, as well as potentially Peralta, McCutchen, and Gonzalez. And if he keeps it up, there's no way Grienke doesn't finish near the top.

Good call, I completely forgot about Greinke. I agree with you on that. David Peralta? He's having a VERY solid year but not an MVP candidate, IMO. Or do you mean Jhonny (same rationale applies there, coincidentally).

Or do you mean Jhonny (same rationale applies there, coincidentally). Jhonny. And while his numbers (.299, 14 HR, 48 RBI with a .357 OBP and an .840 OPS) aren't as good, he's having the best season on baseball's best team. That'll count for something, whether it should or not.

That'll count for something, whether it should or not. I agree it has value. A couple weeks back one of the analysts said Kolten Wong is the MVP on STL, without a doubt. I'm with you, though, as I think Wong and Peralta have both been solid. I don't think either has the #'s to justify being in the MVP consideration, though. JMO.
July 22, 201511 yr Good as place as any for it.....Reds drew the 1st pick of the Competitive Balance Round A lottery today. Meaning they'll get the very 1st pick after the 1st round of next year's draft.

July 22, 201511 yr And that's completely separate from the compensatory pick for losing FA's, right? Yes. This year's draft it was the 37th overall pick. Houston used it to get Daz Cameron.
July 22, 201511 yr Some very good players can be had in the competitive balance picks, especially number 1 such as Daz Cameron this year. In the Recent past guys like Jose Berrios, Jesse Winker, Michael Lorenzen, Kevin Plawecki, Stephen Piscotty, Joey Gallo, Lance McCullers, Henry Owens, Aaron Sanchez, Noah Syndergarrd, Lance Lynn, Josh Donaldson have all come in the CB round. It's great to add another high draft pick and hopefully end of with a guy the caliber of the above players.
