2015 Youth Football

Sorry, I don't keep up with youth much anymore. What are the ages/grades for midget, midget youth, junior,etc...?

Thanks in advance.

Normally, divisions are broken up by grade level, but you can have some players a year ahead due to birthdays after the current May 1 cutoff.

Midget Mostly 3-4 grade

Junior Mostly 5-6 grade

Senior Mostly 7-8 grade

Big game in Danville last night when undefeated Danville (5/6 grade) played undefeated Woodlawn Elementary (Boyle Co school system, 5/6 grade) in a little rain and cold.

Woodlawn - 14

Danville - 0

These kids will be battling for several more years and played a great game last night. Very high level of coaching and play for young kids.

Do you know if Woodlawn Elementary plays LCYFL Jumpers again? Woodlawn won by a TD first game of the season for Jumpers. I'd like to see that one again.

I'm not sure...I think WES might be going down to Somerset for a rematch but I can find out.

Trying to schedule Jumpers again.

First game was closer than the 18-6 final score indicated. It's a great matchup.

It is playoff time!

As a coach in the LCYFL, I appreciate the people in the Boyle County Youth Football league for the hospitality this year. We were able to play the Woodlawn team the last 3 years and Perryville this year. I can appreciate the time and effort they put into those boys and the championship level they play. I would've liked to play the Junction City team this year but I think we have missed that opportunity.

Thanks Coach....we appreciate your post and try our best to do things that put our kids in the best position possible both now and when they pull on that black and gold jersey years later.

We like playing the Somerset teams because they are some of the best coaches teams in the area and their kids always put up a fight. BCYF does not play 1/2 grade football and so our younger teams (split at least 3 ways w/Woodlawn, Junction City, Perryville) usually have a tough time competing but by the time they get to 5/6 grade they ready for anyone.

I will resume scheduling duties next year and would like to continue our relationship w/LCYF...I think our leagues complement each other very well.

Good luck as the season wraps up!

Is there not a market for pee wee ball in the Boyle County area?

Seems like that could be huge there.

There is...however, the decision was made years ago by BCHS HC Chuck Smith (and others) to not start contact football until 3/4 grade and with the success of the program it's kinda hard to argue.

The BCHS staff holds coaches clinics for youth coaches and the program CLEARLY focuses on developing the players for the next level. Once the kids are in the system (even with missing 1/2 grade) they have some of the best coaching anywhere and develop over time. Our youth program doesn't play in a conference anymore nor play for any championships. They play about a 10-12 game schedule and then they have a banquet...then on to basketball. :)
