Ziegelmeyer and Ruwe battled hard for 9 innings from the mount.

Ziegelmeyer hit a line drive HR in the 2nd. He led off the 9th with a single that ultimately was the winning run.

Neither team did much offensively as a result of the pitching performances.

Ryle 9th:

Ziegelmeyer single

SAC bunt back to the mound. Ruwe made the right decision to go to 2nd but his throw was wide.

SAC bunt down the 3rd base line. Ruwe threw to first. Throw was low. Should be have been caught or at least blocked. Throw gets past the fielder and the winning run scored.

Tough way to lose to be sure. Question: Is there a rule as to how many innings a pitcher can go in a game? Is 9 the limit?

Per KHSAA, nine is the limit for one day.

The people I was sitting with were surprised that Coach Krumpelman did not bunt late in the game a few times. They said he always bunts no matter who is batting.

Centerfielder for CCH made a Sportscenter highlight catch to save at least a double. I hope one of the parents got it on tape for that kid. Zieglemeyer and Rowe hit the ball very hard today. Nice performance by two good pitchers but the better team won today. Congrats to the Raiders!

Equally impressive play by Ryle 3Bman Jake Puthoff, as he conjures up images of Brooks Robinson when he dives to his right, spins on the ground, and comes up throwing a dart to beat the batter-runner by a step.

Very true. Jake is a great athlete and a great kid.

Coop emerges from his secret location...of course, it is in a baseball thread.

Tough loss for CCH. Ruwe pitched incredible and Pangallo had an incredible catch. Hats off the Ryle and Ziegelmeyer, he did it all with his pitching and home run. A great play by the third basemen too.

It was an ironic ending to this game with CCH not bunting and then Ryle winning it with bunts.

Jake Puthoff play at 3rd for Ryle was a momentum killer...crucial defensive play on the hardest hit ball all night by cov cath

Great high school baseball game. Ziegelmeyer and Ruwe were sensational. Both teams played their butts off.
