Scott 9 Campbell County 8 37th District Championship

Featured Replies

Scott falls behind 3-0 in the first, then surges out to a 9-3 lead, after starting pitcher Zach Mann hit his 2nd home run of the tourney. Campbell County then scores 5 runs over the last two innings. CJ Seay gets the save recording the last out stranding CC runners at 2nd and 3rd. Scott wins their second consecutive 37th district title.

Zach Mann wins tournament MVP

The group of athletes going through Scott right now are some very special kids. A lot of these young men were on last year baseball team, soccer and football teams this past fall and the basketball team this past winter. Everything considered that is a lot of success, especially with 2-3 sport athletes. Good luck to the Eagles next week.

6 of the seniors after the game rushed back to Scott to participate and get honored at Scott's award ceremony, receiving various recognition and scholarships based on the academic and service accomplishments. The principal and several other teachers and students stuck around at school to make sure these guys could participate and get recognized.

We got outcoached again. Heavy sigh.

I didn't see any coaching mistakes that cost CC the game. Scott hit the ball really well, and with some power that they haven't had all year. Getting a guy thrown out at second stealing in the last inning hurt, and was really the only mistake I saw. To say CC lost because of coaching isn't exactly giving Scott any credit for playing tough and executing when they needed too.

Camels came in very flat, and thought they had already won the game after Scott used their #1 , and #2 in the 10 inning game against Brossart the night before. Eblin didn't have effective off-speed pitches, and relied on his fastball way too much. Camels allowed some of Scott's actions to get into their heads (pitcher saying things to players as they are running to first, hitter touching plate with his hand after home run, entire team repeatedly coming out to celebrate after a run scored). Baserunning mistake at the end didn't cost them the game. Player would have been out on a force out (ground ball to Mann) at third later in the inning. Only change I would have made is to squeeze with my nine hitter up with tying run on third and only one out, instead of letting him hit a ground ball to the third basemen. However, if the ground ball gets through Camels win. Easy to coach using hindsight.

Matt plays for CC, not an everyday player this year. Catches every time Cam Edwards starts, will be looked to as a leader the next couple of years.

Come one, really?? You can't celebrate as a team when scoring a run. I'll give you the touching home with your hand...shouldn't happen. But everything else you heard and saw from Scott, you hear and see all year. Just as much chatter and bench jockeying from CC's side. No effect on the game either way. And no way Campbell came out flat...didn't they jump out to a 3-1 lead?? Why is it hard to give a team credit for winning rather than saying the other team came out flat?? These were two even teams and they'd probably split 5-5 if they played 10 times.

Camels gave up a run in the first on a bloop single that was misplayed by the right fielder, and an error on the shortstop. Camels scored three in the first on three walked batters and a single.

Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Do not criticize when you have similar weaknesses yourself.

Don't leave us hanging, please explain

entire team repeatedly coming out to celebrate after a run scored).

This shouldn't bother anyone. They do it every run, every game. If that gets in someone's head, something is wrong in said head.

As for what others have said about Scott's group, I agree, Great group of kids, on & off the field/court. The game that cemented this for me happened earlier in the season at Scott. Low 50s, on & off drizzle, & there's 20-25 students in the bleachers watching the game.
