That's their story and they're sticking to it.....

I like how the rescuers said it was so dark they had to resort to yelling for the boys to help locate them.

The comments below the story are hilarious:

They were burning their clothes after just six hours in the woods. Another day and they would have been eating each other. Sorry to make light of their plight (but sorry didn't stop me).

Lost in the woods and could not find any wood to burn?

I'm glad they had the sense to remove them before lighting them.

I'm just glad to see 4 young men who don't have a needle in their arm, a cell phone glued to their fingers and ears, or have their eyes locked on a computer/tv/game screen.

I've burned some clothes in the Gorge, but not because I was lost...and that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I would chalk this one up to Darwinism, unfortunately we are a compassionate people

My first thought....why didn't they just find a tree to lean up against and get a few hours sleep and find their way back in the daylight?

They were worried about all the large predatory animals in Kentucky.

I got lost at the gorge one night on spring break back in 82. Group of is tried to take a shortcut to one of the sights and got lost after dark. Found our way back after about 8 hours in the pitch black good thing it was so dark because in the daylight we saw the cliffs we climbed to reach the top of one of the mountaina so we could try and see our camp site and we

climbed up steep cliffs that in the daylight we never would have done.

It it really did help not being able to see how high up we were while lost.

I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt because they're high-schoolers. After that, nope. Jesus Christ, even the dumbest Boy Scout knows how to gather wood — and watch out for cliffs to fall off of.
