Greenup-Russell week 1 will be a very interesting game. Would love to watch this game but Putnam Stadium- Raceland vs Ashland is the place to be that night.

Yeah I knew he quit,that's why I said it would have been 83. Now there is 82 on the roster.

It's great to see those kinds of numbers at Russell. We've got a huge freshman class this year. How long has it been since Russell fielded a roster of 80+?

I agree to an extent. What matters most is the 20 or so kids that make up the core of the Varsity team. Not every kid will see the field on Friday night, but every player should see some playing time at some level, be it Varsity, JV, or Freshman. Bigger numbers will breed competition in position battles and build program depth.

I totally agree. Player "X" may not be good as a freshman or even a sophomore but you never know what he may become as a Senior. You go weeding them out too early you may just just accidentally weed out a rose or two. TJ rewards these types of kids by having 2 Capts for the coin toss accompanied by 2 players that have fought hard in practice to make the starters better.

Great numbers for Russell too bad Belfry is around, also I believe Fairview dressed over 70 couple years ago. Great numbers for Raceland as well, to be honest I was surprised TJ left to go back to Russell. Single A is a watered down class and now with Mayfield in 2A could open door for Raceland to win one IMO.

Russell might still be a year or two away from beating Belfry, but I believe that day is coming. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

 

Coach Maynard had a great thing going at Raceland. But sometimes, whenever you're needed/wanted back home, you've got to answer the call.

Those are great numbers for Russell and Raceland, I think Ashland only has around 70 this year.

I think in Ashland's case, it's more about quality over quantity. Two FBS signees, plus Kurtlen Brown, who may or may not have D1 potential.

Russell's weakness this year will be the depth of the linebacking corp. how many can play at a high enough level?
