Fairdale's new stadium -state funding

02...I am surprised that Manual doesn't have some better facilities?
We happen to like our facilities. I wouldn't trade them for what Trinity has built, that's just how I (and a lot of Manual people) feel about it. It's a matter of taste, I suppose. Some people would rather have a brand spanking new house for their money, others would rather move into a more historic building.

I just thought with all those smart people who have graduated from Manual over the years...eventually they would give money back to the school after they took all those high paying jobs!!

Manual gets its share of money back...but those daggun smart people keep giving money earmarked for more academic pursuits!

I think that I'll stand behind my school that has great academics and facilities!

The academics are OK... not great. Now I'll tell you where you can find great academics...;)

I'm just glad to see a school and community like Fairdale, that could USE a leg up, get some help in the budget. And I don't see a reason to look down at them over it.

I am happy for Fairdale!

If the State Legi knew it was for a new football stadium, good for them. If the State Rep snuck it past by calling it a community center, I would call that a fraud.

Many high school fields are used by youth league’s all across the state. I’m sure they would like their $300K also.

When is the funding for the football stadiums at Atherton, Iroquois, Moore, Southern etc. coming through? If they are not all getting funding then none should.

Here's the wording from the bill:

014. Jefferson County Board of Education - Fairdale

Community Center

Bond Funds 300,000

None of those are in independent communities like Fairdale. I can name several community centers near all of those schools, but there isn't one in Fairdale. If that's how Fairdale sees this, as a community center, then I think that's their perogative, as long as they don't complain later that they lack a more traditional one.

Who cares, all public high schools are going to need to make improvements from time to time. As it is a public school the money is going to come from the government. This time its Fairdale's turn. Im sure other schools have received money for things in the past. Apollo High School will soon have a 2nd gym. Anyone want to get upset about that?

As long as the people voting to give the funds to Apollo know it is for a gym, so be it.

But it's not just their prerogative. How did the reps that voted to give them the funds see it? I'm guessing they thought it was for a "Community Center" using the most traditional definition possible (ie a building), not a football stadium for a high school. Let’s be honest, this is not a community center. IMHO, this is a fraud committed against the state tax payers. I expect F’dale will not see much in the way of perks from the state for a long time because of it.

 Like they'd really been batting .1000 before this.

It appears to me that most of the people bashing this are private school supporters. I guess they don't want any public schools to have a new nice stadium. Maybe they are scared that it will take away one of their selling points when out of the recruiting trail.
