The order of football championship games for playoff years 2015 through 2018 was approved by the Board as listed below (with the final time schedule to be set in the fall of each year):

 

2015 – 1A, 2A, 6A, 3A, 4A, 5A

2016 – 1A, 3A, 5A, 2A, 4A, 6A

2017 – 1A, 2A, 4A, 3A, 5A, 6A

2018 – 3A, 2A, 5A, 1A, 6A, 4A

 

In 2018, for the first time, the 6A game will NOT be the "last game of the day" . Thankfully for the 6A faithful, it is a Saturday afternoon affair. I am pleased 6A will be contested as the last game on Friday in 2015, and last game on Saturday in 2016 and 2017. Bluebirds fans should be equally content as 5A is receiving similar treatment as evening game in 2015 (Sat), 2016 (Fri) and 2018 (Fri) and the Saturday afternoon contest in 2017.:popcorn:

I would love to see class A the 2nd game one time instead of the first game always.

This is decided by the KHSAA Board of Control. I doubt if a true "draw" is used. I was wondering how A and 2A feel about playing early.

I agree. 1A would love to be in the mix instead of always being the first game.

Last time 1A wasn't the first game was 2009 when Lexington Christian beat Mayfield. 1A was the second game in 2006 and the final game (on a miserable afternoon/night) in 2005.

From my history they are still too cold from playing that early to be able to speak :lol2:

From my personal experience I can tell you it is nice playing early in the day. The waiting is no fun on Fridays when you have huge games and have to wait hours for it. So waking up on a Friday/Saturday morning and immediately playing in the biggest game of your life is nice.
