Reds @ White Sox (5/8-5/10)

Hate when games simply slip away, especially when a win would have given them a winning road trip.

At what point do we start holding Billy Hamilton accountable for the fact that he sucks at the plate? Can't hit to save his life. This game was lost when Hamilton, their best bunter, couldn't figure out how to get a bunt down with Cozart at 2nd and no out in the 9th. Inexcusable.
I get what you're saying, but 2 totally separate topics. His lack of ability at the plate to get himself on and his inability to bunt are separate. This may be the worst bunting team in the history of the game. And that's saying something.

Oh, I know they're two separate areas. He just continually gets a pass from criticism it seems.

The thing that kills me is that Hamilton can bunt. Why he looked like he had no clue what he was doing yesterday was inexcusable. He looked like a guy that's never bunted in his life.

Yep. It's absurd and has cost them no less than 3 games this season. I'm not sure it's simply a lost art. But friggin' Cueto can do it, jeez.

They would be better off replacing Bronson Arroyo with Meso as the bench spot and using Bronson to PH and bunt in times of need.

I was going to say I think Cueto is our best bunter. I am not sure Billy is a very good bunter. I know he has been working on it but I am not sure I have seen a good bunt from him this year.

Hamilton and Bruce just stink getting on base. Lance tweeted out Bruce has only hit better than .229 in one of his last 10 months of baseball. And as much as some people rail on Frazier (and he looks terrible sometimes at plate) 7 of his 10 homeruns have either tied the game or given the Reds the lead according to Joel Luckhaupt.

I'm giving it until about 2:00pm and I'm starting the series thread. I am working a 1-0-1 record for this season.

I will start one if you guys want.

Someone needs to start it so I can start complaining in a new thread :lol2:

Reds may actually having a shot at winning this series, so that rules me and HT out. We only start threads knowing we are gonna take one for the team, ala Cardinal series. We leave it up to LRCW and others to take the series we have a shot against, so they can pad their stats. We do the heavy lifting while the others take the glory.

I've always said that Hamilton is a more valuable bench player than everyday regular. The guy just doesn't get on base at a high enough clip to be a true threat on a daily basis. If he was primarily a pinch runner, he'd be very valuable.

I say go for it MJ.

Not so fast @spindoc. I got a sweep 1st series of the year. Nobody expected the Reds to do that against the Pirates. I also started the next series against the Cardinals at home. Everyone knew what to expect there. I usually get the job done no matter who they're playing until some rookie comes in and jacks up the good mojo I had going, and pretty much ruins the whole season.
