What do you expect from U of L 2015-16?

Have to admit, don't know much about Pitino's recruits or the returning/contributing players. What would honestly be a successful season for The Birds? Sweet 16? Elite 8? NIT? Has any of their schedule be released? Do they go to Cameron this season?

To answer the last question first: yes, they'll play at Cameron this year.

Home: Boston College, Florida State, North Carolina, Syracuse, and Wake Forest

Away: Clemson, Miami, NC State, Notre Dame, and Virginia Tech

Home and Home: Duke, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, Virginia

Don't recall the interesting non-conference games but apart from the game against UK there will be a good Big Ten opponent in the ACC/B1G challenge. Possibly a game against IU. I know that restart of a non-conference series with Memphis has been delayed at least two years.

As for what qualifies as a good season... who knows? I know nothing about these guys transferring in. Freshmen are always a big of a crapshoot with Pitino. Lots of unknowns. Four weeks ago I'd have said I'd be fine with just making the field. Now I'm thinking more like Sweet 16, but truthfully, I'm looking through a glass darkly with this team right now.

Truthfully it's hard for me to look ahead to basketball right now given that I was unexpectedly encouraged by how things went during spring football.

I expect Louisville to more pressing and more up tempo team than this past year. Would not be surprise to see 3 guards start for the cards. Johnson is a big key for cards. CPR has been saying he can be a ALL-ACC type of player for the cards. If that's true than this will be a good year. In coming Freshmen Mitchell has the Louisville community buzzing about his athleticism and his work ethic.

The most fustrating part of being a UL basketball fan is the drama that goes on every season under Pitino. As for expectations to soon to tell with all the "Free Agents" coming in. I say this only because of the where I see the program and any finish outside of the Sweet 16 is a failure on his part. He has been there long enough not to have lulls in recruiting.

A lot can happen between May and October. A little premature on this one, I think.

Any background on the Mitchell kid. Don't know anything about him

6'3" guard out of Brewster Academy in New Hampshire. Rated No. 17 nationally by scout, and the No. 2 shooting guard nationally. I'm sure others can tell you more but supposedly he's crazy athletic and should fit well at Louisville.

Like isn't near strong enough... :lol2:

Trying to figure this team out right now is like trying to figure out the settled image in a snow globe if you'd only ever seen it shaken up.

That may be one reason Rick hired his old buddy Ralph Willard as an assistant coach. That, and the fact that Rick will be away coaching the Puerto Rican national team this summert.

Confirmed by Louisville Athletics today:

UofL will play AT Michigan State on Dec. 2 as part of the ACC/B1G Challenge.

Shocked a UL fan hasn't posted the video of Mitchell dunking a made 3 before it hit the ground...
