Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sign Winston

Featured Replies

The lineman doesn't want Jameis to come in and act like a leader. "We already have leaders." That's what the lineman said. He wants Jameis to come in and shut up and "stay in his lane." That dude is an idiot.

I had no idea what the lineman said, but I was making a joke about Winston's ridiculous speech after they won the title game.

Hater.

This Lineman does realize hes playing for Tampa Bay right? They need all the leaders they can get.

Yes, maturity too. I was including that in the mental side of things. He had 18 picks last year and another 13 passes that were dropped by the defense. I doubt those were due to lacking the physical ability to get the ball to the receiver, but more the mental side of forcing passes and misreading defenses.

I agree with this.

My issue with Jameis Winston at the NFL level is that if he threw 65 touchdowns vs. 28 interceptions at the college level on a very good Florida State team, he is a very poor decision maker. And that is against unsophisticated defenses.

In the NFL, he will face better athletes and more sophisticated defenses in addition to playing for a poor team. I don't think it will bode well for him or the Buccaneers anytime soon.

So much talk about his interceptions but everyone glosses over the fact that he still guided his team to a national title in his first season on the field and in his second he still guided his team to the playoffs. He lost one game in two years of college football. Tebow apologists always say "Tebow was a winner." "Tebow won a playoff game." If Jameis is able to make the Bucs better than what they were with Josh McCown and the other fella they had last year I don't care how many interceptions he throws next season. It's about progress and I think Jameis has all of the tools to be a better than average QB in the NFL. If he has a Tony Romo-like career I'll happily take it.

Jameis is blessed with all the tools to be successful in the NFL for many years. That is not the issue.

The 2 to 1 touchdown/interception ratio is troubling to me. Sure he won....he was at Florida State. He has made poor decisons on the field (a lot of interceptions) and off the field (well publicized).

Just win, Baby!!!!!

As already mentioned, biggest boost to his success is for TB to get the bodies to protect him. Nothing ruins a young QB quicker than getting lit up time after time.

Who wouldn't? That's a solid career.

So he doesnt need to win in the playoffs or anything, just be an average QB?

Tony Romo is an above average QB IMO...

I hope he is a great QB who has a Hall of Fame career. I don't know what else to tell you.

Tom Brady threw 30 touchdowns and 17 interceptions while in college. I don't think any of us are qualified to predict Jameis' future. People either want to see him succeed so they can say they were right about him or people want to see him fail on and off the field so they can say they were right about him.

Just the the way it is.
