The 21-year-old Taylor was arrested Saturday evening after a woman reported her boyfriend assaulted her, a Tuscaloosa police news release said. Taylor has been charged with domestic violence third-degree assault and domestic violence third-degree criminal mischief, police said.

Domestic violence is a crime where I am reluctant to give a second chance. I see it as so over the top and such a statement of lack of character that I have to think very hard and take each situation on a case by case basis before granting a second chance.

 

I want to hear the rest of the story before I say Taylor got a bad deal in this situation of the false charge.

 

On the flip side, I feel just as strongly about someone who makes a false charge of domestic violence. If this proves to be a completely false charge situation, this woman has serious character issues and should be penalized as severely as possible.

Totally agree on all counts, VoR. False reports only make it harder for true victims of DV and rape to be taken serious.

Not saying you are wrong, but what is your idea for those who do not receive a second chance? At some point they become society's problem and you will have to deal with them.

When I say second chance in this context, I am talking about football. I am not saying the kid should be kicked out of school or prevented from working his way forward somewhere.

No worse than the stance taken against the Chick-fil-a guy. Nobody will hire him at all. Because this guy has a "special talent" though, he will probably make out just fine as far as playing again.
