March 20, 201511 yr The Cubbies are taking a beating for delaying his MLB debut in some arenas, but I can see their side of it, economically. But is it better to bite the bullet in this case, if you're the Cubs, given that this appears to be as good a window for them to win a WS as there's ever been in 100 years? Given the financial health of their franchise, do they need to be penny-pinching in this situation? Where do you weigh in?
March 20, 201511 yr Author The debate over when a player's MLB clock starts ticking and how it affects free agency and arbitration are worthy of a different thread, so let's direct that conversation there rather than this thread, please.
March 20, 201511 yr Story I read said the Cubs can bring him back after about 10 games and get another full year. I would do that if I were Theo.
March 20, 201511 yr It's a no brainer for the organization. You don't bring him up until they get the extra full year. This is nothing new it has happened with all the young studs in the recent past, Harper, Trout, etc.
March 20, 201511 yr Cubs are doing the smart thing. Wait I believe is 12 days. Bring him up then, which is what Epstein has said he's going to do, and you control him for another year. This guy is a stud and it'll be well worth it to wait.
March 20, 201511 yr April 17 although, it makes no sense they can offer him 7/85 mill after this season if he produces big. It's just the safe financial decision for the Cubs.
March 20, 201511 yr Definitely the smart thing to do. Guy is a stud though and I want to see him Opening Night vs the Red Birds.
March 20, 201511 yr No question you wait. It's not like Boras is going to give you a discount during the contract negations if they let him stay now.

Ah, to hell with it. Let's hear your thoughts on this as well.

March 22, 201511 yr Author What were you hoping to discuss in this thread? Since it was posted at 1:36 in the morning whatever night that was, I'm certain there was alcohol involved. So it's hard to say.
March 23, 201511 yr 2 more HR for Bryant. I was telling someone Saturday that this kid is going to OWN Chicago soon. He will be the face of the franchise.

March 23, 201511 yr Id offer him 7/75 mill right now and hope he accepts... Boras is too smart for that. He'd turn that down in a nanosecond. I'd imagine after just this upcoming season that'd be considered a lowball offer.
