Rocks 2006 schedule out

Featured Replies

I will play the contrarian, RockPride. I am not sure of the effect of schedule on playoff success in HS football. One could argue that a weak schedule permits liberal substituting, lessening the odds of injuries to key players.

The preseason predictions have yet to come out. Manual looks to be down a bit from last year. Other than X, are there any top 10 opponents on the schedule?

Well, with the exception of 2003, this EXACT format of schedule has helped us win 3 of the other 4 state championships.

Understood, I just enjoy seeing them expanding their horizons; they are great, but there is so much more out there to be had.

(And the rest of the state is worried about a public/private imbalance-that is funny.)

I wonder just how many more teams out in the state, or Jeff County for that matter, would play the Rocks. I bet not many, given the “boycott” and all.

Probably so. If the annual game versus Manual comes to an end, Maybe Trinity could schedule Highlands again like they did in 2000, I think it was 2000.

I'll be there for the first game, What a great way to start off the season !

Yes, I agree with you. That was my point. I don't believe anyone would quibble that X played a rougher schedule than T last year, for example, but that killer schedule did not produce a state title. I am saying that at the HS level a killer schedule may have an adverse impact. Starters have to play most of the game, with more opportunities for injury. I am sure that many at X would swap Male, PRP, Highlands and Bowling Green for any four on T's schedule.

Why no big dogs from Cincy? They are playing teams from all over the country.

Trinity cannot plan ahead with teams leaving and entering the district so often. The MBA game is set each year. The St. X game is set. Manual is the other non-district foe for now.

We will not know our district schedule for 2007-08 until this fall. By then, many of the "big dogs" already have their schedules in place. The Cincy private schools have such a small conference schedule that they have many open dates to work with each year. The conference record doesn't get them in the playoffs, only their computer ranking. They get credit for every game they play and those results are weighted by enrollment of these other schools and the records of those schools throughout the year.

Kentucky disallows any competition with out of state schools in the tie breaker format for making the KHSAA playoffs.

Are the Rockheads scheduling Manual for 2007 and beyond? If not, why not schedule Male?

Since Male won't play the frosh, I doubt they will paly the varsity.

Bobby Redmon has been known to not want us on the schedule. In fact in 2001 we were supposed to open against them and before the season started he cancelled the game, we were lucky to pick up someone else, but it was still a bit frustrating.

Sorry to correct you but... Trinity didn't "pick up" anyone else. They only played nine games that season.

We didn't? I could have sworn we had a 14-1 record that season.

Are you being serious? Bobby has always tried to PICK AND CHOOSE when to play us...now is not the time.
