March 10, 201511 yr My son is going to be in a wedding in Owensboro this summer. He is the best man and is in charge of the bachelor party, also to be held in Owensboro. We do not know a thing about this area. This group of men are rather low keyed, so he is looking for a nice place for dinner and a few drinks for toasts.. I don't think they are looking for the wild night with strippers kind of party. Anybody have any advice on where to go or what to do?

He's a guy in his 30's. I'll ask him if you want. He has made great recommendations to me in the past, and not the same 'ol barbecue suggestions. Another option to consider is Evansville, if they'll have a driver. It's not far.

I would certainly appreciate it. How close is Evansville?
March 11, 201511 yr Niko's Italian restaurant, small, intimate very good food. Not sure if that's what you're looking for but I like it.
March 11, 201511 yr I'll ask him tomorrow. Evansville is about 40 minutes from Owensboro Yea, it's about 40 mins, really easy drive if go Audubon to henderson then up. In Owensboro Cobys downtown use to be really good but haven't been there in a few years.
March 11, 201511 yr I would stay in Owensboro if that is where he has to do things. Owensboro has plenty of nice restaurants and several things to do. Evansville and Henderson are nice, also, but not that much different than Owensboro. That area is bigger, but I think you will like Owensboro.
March 11, 201511 yr I lived in Owensboro for about 9 months. It was the longest 3 years of my life. Get on a bus and go somewhere - anywhere - else.

Not sure what you were used to or what you wanted/expected, but I would completely disagree with this. Never lived there but have been there many times for both pleasure and work and continue to do so. I find it a nice area with plenty to do commiserate with it's size/population.
March 11, 201511 yr Joey (my Co worker) said that's a great time in Evansville, especially downtown where lots of restaurants offer outdoor dining and there are lots of pubs/bars with outdoor music. I've been to Owensboro several times and I really like their downtown area which is rwally growing.

You would have to go to Evansville for any of that type of entertainment. There really isn't a whole lot in Owenboro as far as restaurants if you want something that isn't the normal chain place that you would find anywhere. As RM suggested Colby's downtown is pretty nice. In addition there is a place called the Briarpatch that has pretty good steaks, they have a private room depending on the size of the party. The new Hampton Inn on the river has what is supposed to be an upscale seafood place called Lure or something like that. I've not been and the reviews have been mixed but some people really love it. The Miller house which is near downtown has really good food but both times I have went (which has been a few years) the service was really slow. Of course there is always the Moonlite. Since you said it was going to be summer, if the bachelor party is on Friday night than the city has "Friday after 5" where they have at least two stages along the river with varrying types of musical acts. They do sell alcohol and it is pretty well attended. The bar scene in Owenboro is basically nonexistent. Most places are dive bars, I really cant even think of anywhere that would be fun for a bachelor party. If they are just looking to have dinner and drinks that Owenboro could accomidate the group, but anything beyond that, especially the typcial bachelor party activities than I would suggest that they should strongly consider going to Evansville.
