March 9, 201511 yr Why are we still talking about adoption? When the issue is a couple wanting to be foster parents? If they want to adopt they can go so that now. As has been stated the couple wants to be foster parents, with the possibility of adoptiing later. This whole issue revolves around fostering. The laws for 48 states having some type of restrictions on guns and fostering has been around for a long time, the article I posted was from 2004. Why is this an issue now?
March 9, 201511 yr Author The current law/policy does not in any way infringe upon a person's right to bear arms. There is no discrimination. And I disagree. The people are following legal guidelines to participate in a constiuitionally guaranteed right and yet they are being turned away, thus the need for the new statute protecting their right. And before you say their right to arms hasn't been denied I would again go back to the gay couple example. If a gay couple were denied in this instance but were told they could adopt if they slept on separate beds would they have been discriminated against? I'm not getting into the "gay is a choice debate" rather I'm saying that if they chose to sleep together as a couple and were told they could foster kids if they gave up that choice the same people who are saying choose between the two in this situation would be outraged.

The law says they can own guns, adopt kids but they can't keep a loaded gun accessible to the kids in order to adopt or be a foster parent. Isn't getting behind a wheel while drunk comparable to an irresponsible kid with access to a loaded gun?

You have to make a choice. Surely this isn't that hard to understand... So you are telling a law abiding citizen who can help under priviliged kids they can't because of ideology. What about the kids ? Why don't you or this agency care about the kids ?
