March 5, 201511 yr Dang the line on this seemed to good to be true. If I were a betting man of course.
March 5, 201511 yr Fourth loss at home of the season; hoping that the fifth isn't against Virginia, but I'd say the chances are pretty high. Rough performance offensively.
March 5, 201511 yr The guards were horrible last night. Nine first half turnovers leading to an 11-point halftime deficit. They erased the deficit and took the lead early in the second half but you can't take one half of basketball off and beat a top-15 opponent. Also, Mangok Mathiang might be the worst player to hold a scholarship under Rick Pitino. Trillions last night.
March 5, 201511 yr Rozier played awful. I can handle Snider turning it over, but Rozier that type of play is unacceptable.
March 5, 201511 yr No defense in the 1st half. At 1 point, ND was shooting 75%. Part of that, of course, was turnovers leading to layups. Another part was allowing lobs over the press for dunks. UofL's offense is not good enough to make up for allowing easy baskets. 5 spot continues to be a black hole. Onuaku w 2 quick fouls and some TOs. Mathiang did the same -- eventually fouling out with 0s on virtually every other stat line. Mahmoud forced into service plays OK but he is too light and inexperienced and made some rookie mistakes. I like the confidence Snider is playing with. Too many TOs, but he now appears comfortable shooting and doesn't fear being taken out immediately (since there is nothing behind him). Rozier was bad and stupid. Too many TOs, too many quick & bad shots when the game was still competitive. Work the ball into the high / low and see what happens. If the shot clock gets down to 10 or so, that same bad shot you wanted to take 15 seconds ago will still be there. He also continues to be ridiculously selfish. 3 on 1 breakaway with him in the middle of the floor. Instead of drawing the defender to him and dishing to Onuaku for a dunk, he drives to the bucket and takes the foul. Not only could he miss the FTs, you lose a chance to get some momentum on your side. Harrell was good, but FT shooting is still a problem. If he is going to bang inside and get contact, he has to make them pay. Particularly front ends of 1&1. He also got beat over the top of the press a few times. Not sure if that is on him or the 5. Blackshear was tolerable -- which is a huge upgrade over most games. Looks a bit more confident shooting and driving now. Without a major performance from him that nobody expects will actually come, UofL needs a very good matchup to survive 1st weekend of NCAA tourney. NOTE: it may be a gift that they won't get the double bye. Playing the winner of a the 12 v. 13 or 11 v. 14 game on WED, MAR 11 is probably better than playing the 5 team on THU, MAR 12. This squad needs more reps together (without Jones) and playing 2 or 3 games in 2 or 3 days is probably better than the likely 1 & out. Not concerned about having to play 4 games in 4 days because I don't think there is much chance they get into the finals unless there are some crazy upsets.
