"if his story was true, the Colts will come out of this as the villains"

Didn't MLB teams use to shut guys down to keep them from reaching performance bonuses if the team was out of the pennant race?

Colts are turds IMO.

They still will when the performance bonuses will vest the player's contract and they don't want them. The Phillies contract with Jonathan Papelbon will guarantee his 2016 salary of $13 million if he closes (not saves) 55 games in 2015 or a total of 100 games in 2014-15. He closed 52 last season so if he closes 48 this year that means it kicks in. How much do you be he only gets used in save situations to make sure he doesn't get to 48 games?

Someone alluded to a situation with James a few years ago when he ran with the ball trying to get to a bonus instead of taking a knee. Colts seemed to get pretty mad at that.

Pretty sure I know what I would have done.

Which tells me players and agents need to be smarter and quit signing these type of contracts.

As a matter of fact, this is probably an issue the players union in each sport needs to take up and possibly eliminate.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'll never root for the Colts (my boyhood team) as long as an Irsay is in charge.

What do you expect from a team with no class and no loyalty? In 1984 they stole away from Baltimore in the middle of the night to Indianapolis. I can't root for a team that would do something like that. Though I do like Manning.

Of course, I can't feel bad for Baltimore anymore since 12 years later they repeated the nefarious offense against the Cleveland Browns when the unscrupulous owner of the Browns stabbed the city of Cleveland in the back.

Didn't Dante describe a special place reserved for franchise owners who would do such a thing?

Didn't I just read the players association just filed a grievance for Gordon for his suspension of the last game of the year because it only gave him 5 games and he needed 6 to count for a year towards free agency.

Yes, but what is your point? Gordon missed 10 games due to testing positive for a banned substance, which means he tested positive several times before earning the 10 games suspension. Then he came back and was pretty lackadaisical about football. You would think that having cost his teammates 10 games without him that he'd be all business trying to be the best he could be. But he came back and was late for a lot of team meetings etc. The Browns fined him several times for being late. Then he failed to show up for a walk-through on Saturday before the final game of the season. So the Browns suspended Gordon for that game which meant he was only active for 5 games in the season. That means he won't be eligible for free agency after the 2016 season--assuming he even makes it back to the team and stays off drugs and alcohol.

That seems like a reasonable disciplinary action from the Browns given the fact they had already fined him 5 or 6 times for being tardy and he missed ten games for pure stupidity. He doesn't deserve to have his time counted toward his free agency eligibility. He owes the Browns more quality time. The Browns are in the right in this case. It is nothing like the Colts with Richardson. I doubt he stays clean to even be re-instated to the NFL.
