9th Region Schedule @ BOKC

Featured Replies

Just found out that they moved the NKU men's first round tournament game to Regents Hall on Tuesday March 2nd. Unbelievable. More disconnect between SMG and NKU. Very, very disappointing.

What is the disconnect?

What is SMG?

What is SMG?

SMG is the company that manages/runs BOK.

Seems like some still don't understand the meaning of contractual obligations.

It's not the understanding of the contract, it's why the contract didn't have an NKU provision in it for their conference tournament. Someone really dropped the ball on this one. It's a slap in the face to the NKU men's basketball program.

Wouldn't that be on NKU?

I would think it was someone at NKU who dropped the ball by not negotiating such a provision in its contract with the arena.

I would think so.

I would think so.

So the slap in the face is self-inflicted.

I believe NKU was not originally eligible for their conference tournament this year and next year.

That is true. They were not. So depending on when the contract was written and signed, it may not have been a situation that could have ever existed. Once the A-Sun lifted the ban though, it became a possible problem. Unfortunately if the contract was signed with the 9th Region already, there is no way to fix the problem.

How about this for a solution. Play 3 first round girls games on Monday night, 5:30, 7:00 and 8:30, then the other first round girls game on Tuesday night at 6:00 right before the NKU men's game. Move the men's game back to 8:00. Shouldn't be a big deal.

1) I don't see 1.5 hours being enough of a scheduling difference for three regional games on Monday. That 8:30 game won't start close to 8:30 IMO.

2) I don't see a D1 conference tournament game being played after a HS regional game. Too many variables to the game starting on time and a set schedule for warmups/games would be wanted by NKU and their opponent.

It's not ideal, but it sure beats playing at Regents Hall.
