My prediction is the gym gets hot and somebody props open a door or window thinking they're doing everyone a favor. Within a few minutes you'll have condensation on the floor and the game will be cancelled because the floor gets too slippery. It happens too often in the old gyms like this one. But there's always someone that thinks letting cool air in the hot gym is a good idea.

Big-Time battle royale at NewCath Tuesday Feb. 17th.

 

The Rocks visit the "hill" on Tuesday looking for a little revenge as the Breds ended their 25 game home court winning streak last year, 45-44. Coincidentally, the Bred haven't lost a home game (18 straight) since Jan 10, 2013, when they lost 50-48 to CovCath. Trinity comes into this game sporting a 21-5 mark, while NewCath stands at 25-3.

Does Spaulding play strictly inside for Trinity or does he get out on the perimeter? I'm curious who guards him for NewCath.

This game is too close to call, either team can come out with the W. But my gut tells me Trinity by 3 could be the other way around too.

From the few times I've seen him this season, he generally does not go beyond 15 feet from the basket.....maybe occasionally just to handle the ball in a set---but not to shoot. He's quick for a tall guy. I think he had 7 steals last game. Not a great jump shooter but can hit some.

This is very accurate. If he's away from the basket it is just to clear the lanes for drives. He'll then cut to the basket for passes and offensive rebounds. He is very, very athletic for his size and can really cover ground well to block shots and get rebounds.

 

As far as who guards him...athletically Weyer is a better matchup. However he doesn't really drive to the basket or anything so I believe McDonald could guard him as well. In fact, given the rest of Trinity's roster (most kids can put it on the floor) my guess is that McDonald guards Spalding and Weyer checks Thieneman if NCC plays man.

 

One big factor for NCC will be that Weyer and/or McDonald will be able to pull Spalding from under the basket on defense. Their ability to shoot the ball will force him to respect that and negate some of his shot blocking ability in drives by others players. When he can float to the basket without fear of what the player he's guarding is going to do Trinity's defense becomes ridiculous. If he has to respect the jumpshot of the guy he's guarding their defense suffers.
