Kentucky's class for next year.

Featured Replies

I know they have commits already from Skal Labissiere, Isaiah Briscoe and Charles Matthews. I read yesterday that Malik Newman is possibly close to committing to Cal and the Cats. Is there anybody else that is a strong possibility for next year, or is that about it?

I think Stephen Zimmerman stays out west, but Cal has very aggressively recruited him. He is a possibility though.

Thomas Bryant, Jaylen Brown (if we don't get Newman), Cheick Diallo (doubt we get him though), Ivan Rabb (might get him but probably stays out West), Zimmerman, Brandon Ingram, or Caleb Swanigan.

As you see, we have lots of choices to choose from.

Does UK have any seniors on scholarship? As far as I know all of the seniors are walk ons aren't they? As far as leaving after the season I would have to say Andrew and Aaron Harrison, Karl Anthony Towns and Willie Cauley-Stein are locks with Lyles and Booker as probables. I would think that Dakari Johnson's stock has fallen since last year, but I honestly don't know. Thoughts?

IMO:

5. Karl Towns

14. Trey Lyles

15. WCS

44. Andrew Harrison

59. Aaron Harrison

--Booker isn't even on the draft board.. good question..--

Next year:

Ulis, Briscoe, Matthews, Poythress, Johnson, (maybe Newman or Jaylen B), Booker, Skal Labissiere, Hawkins...

not much depth next year for the cats....nor height.

My gut is telling me Jaylen Brown goes with Kansas or North Carolina...

Ulis

Briscoe

Booker

Matthews

Newman

Poythress

Johnson

Skal Labissiere

Hawkins

IF Brown & Newman come

WE ARE PLATOONING AGAIN!

Ulis/Briscoe

Brown/Booker

Poythress/Hawkins

Matthews/Newman

Johnson/Skal Labissiere

Where is this class looking to finish ranked? #1? Top 3? I'm assuming #1. I haven't paid much attention to recruiting this season yet so I honestly don't know. I am assuming UK is #1 and Duke #2 so far. Is that accurate?

I agree on the Harrisons, Willie, & Towns leaving. A month or so ago I would have said Dakari is gone too, but he has played like crap lately. Presently, I believe Booker is more likely to leave than Lyles, but if I had to guess right now, I think both stay.

Thomas Bryant...price499 makes a good point about him. I believe Matt Jones said a while back that he was fairly certain Bryant would be a Cat next year.

I think it's definitely top 3, but will likely end in one of the top 2 spots. A lot of these guys are wisely waiting things out to see who leaves & who stays.

Towns will be a top 5 draft pick.

Lyles could be a top 10, but should certainly be selected in the lottery. Although he hasn't played exceptionally well for Kentucky, he might have the highest ceiling.

Willie Cauley-Stein is one of the best athletes in the country, but his limitations offensively might hurt his draft stock. I think he's gone, too. He could sneak into the lottery but will certainly be a 1st rounder.

Dakari has improved his body, but I think he lacks the type of athleticism to play in the league. If he declares, I think a team takse him late in the 1st with the goal of developing him, but he'd probably be better served in college for another year or two.

The Harrisons are wildcards. There is no doubt in my mind that they want to go pro, but they're not a lock for the lottery. Hell, they might not even be a lock for the 1st round.

I think Poythress' knee injury forces him to come back to Lexington.

Ulis should be back.

I don't know what Booker will do. I think he could go pro, too, although he might be better served coming back for another year & developing physically. At this point, Booker isn't a lottery pick but could turn into one with another year to mature.

"Wildcards" is a good way to put it. No way are they first round locks, although it's possible. But I'm not sure more time in college will help improve their draft stock, especially if they have to compete with Briscoe, in addition to Ulis & Booker, for playing time.

I believe there are 8 guys in the McDonald's game that are uncommitted. 7 of those 8 have Kentucky in their finalists from what I remember hearing.

I look for them to add Newman, and then another big, hopefully Thon Maker.

Most of the top 10 are still uncommitted so the rankings will certainly change. Of the top 10 players, 6 are uncommitted, 2 UK, 1 LSU (#1 player in the nation) and 1 Duke.

Newman will be a Cat if the Harrisons leave.

What is the status on Maker?

I think you're wrong there. He's in the 10-14 range right now IMO. He was one I was certain would be back earlier in the year, now I have no clue. If he comes back, I think he can get into the top 7-8 next year.
