For starters...where's Mullins for Holmes? Calling Walter.

McClendon got his 1000th career point tonight...congratulations to him!

Huggins was in the house.

Pretty good hard fought game.

Dixie could never manage to overcome what was basically a 5-7 point lead by Holmes much of the night after early runs by both teams.

Dixie started with a 9-0 run, but Holmes battled back for a 16-16 tie by the end of the first quarter.

Game stayed close in the 2nd and Holmes took a 36-31 lead into halftime and extended that lead to 8 by the end of the 3rd.

Dixie did manage to pull within 3, but Holmes would continue to answer never letting the Red Colonels get any closer.

Holmes did well to connect on their free throws down the stretch while Dixie did not.

Both teams are legit 3 and 4 in the region and will definitely pose a threat to whoever has to face them in post season play.

Dixie however has no 3 point shooting to speak of which is a problem, and I wasn't always impressed by Bolden's shot selections. He jacked up far too many uncalled for 3 attempts where the situation didn't call for it, and especially down the stretch with under 2:00 minutes to go with the Bulldogs having the lead where perhaps eating some clock would have been the more advisable choice under the circumstances.

Holmes was led by James Bolden (21 pts), Markel McClendon (19 pts), and Rod Avery (18 pts, 9 rbs)

Mitch Bolin led Dixie with 14 pts, 7 rbs, followed by Liam Rabe with 13 pts. Austin Schreck finished with 9 & 11 rbs.

Mullins missed due to personal reasons. He will be back soon.

As for the comment about Bolden...he finished 4-9 FG, 4-8 3FG. Not a great shooting night, but definitely not a bad shooting night by any means.

Bolden's super talented and a good shooter that's for sure, but still there are times you don't rush a 3 in certain game situations. That's just fundamental and something that he still needs to understand if he's going to succeed at the next level, and I think Huggins would agree. Once he gets his IQ of the game to match his talents then he'll be more dynamite a player than he already is.

Dixie started the game up 9-0 by the 5:23 mark...Avery didn't start and when he came in at that point, Holmes outscored the Colonels 70-54 the rest of the way.

Dixie was missing Niehaus tonight who is still nursing an injury, but as stated, Holmes was missing Mullins, which IMO is a bigger blow for the simple fact that Holmes doesn't replace Mullins with a player like Hedger or Moore.

Was calling the game for TBNK up on the second deck...

Surprised nobody has mentioned the dunk where Avery put Drew Moore on a poster. Dont think you'll see that happen to him too often. He isn't the first and probably won't be the last though. Avery gets way up there.
