Should NFL remove Marijuana from the banned substance list?

Featured Replies

Probably - since weed is legal in some states. The Packer who just got busted if Florida? If he were a Bronco, he's just another entreprenuer on his way to the bank, right?

Legal in states but still illegal to the federal government.

Almost true.

I believe that Colorado limits the amount of marijuana that you can have on you. Additionally, $190K in cash on hand w/ a gun...

I was posting in theory.

I am clear he was outside the law, just making the point like Junkie that depending on where in the US not that far outside the law.

I can certainly see how someone's performance on the field would be effected by being drunk, but I wouldn't instantly jump to the conclusion that someone high on marijuana would necessarily be a detriment.

It's a different kind of buzz, but with that said it effects different people differently.

In general it's probably not a good idea to drive while high, (although I'd be more trusting of someone driving high than someone who's been drinking), but handling other things such as sporting events for some can be an enhancement at times.

Sometimes people can actually perform more focused when on it.

I've had people tell me that they played their best game of golf while high.

Not a sport, but if I'm drunk and trying to play a song on my guitar....forget about it...my timing is all off....if I'm high...I'm focused and in the zone. Same with shooting a basketball....drunk...no way....high...I'm in the zone.

Not marijuana, but didn't Doc Ellis pitch a no-hitter while on acid?

Marijuana is really not that big of a deal, and much less a deal than legalized alcohol.

Those who are against legalization of marijuana, but are cool with booze have it backward IMO. Between the two, pot is less harmful for a variety of reasons. I've done both and can say that with complete certainty. The bad perception it has is based on a societal driven image thing that people buy into and not even based on fact.

I'm not promoting the usage of either, but the long standing myth that pot is worse than booze and shouldn't be legal, while booze is accepted and legal is just a stupid illogical double standard.

For once I got through your whole post. :D

The bolded is what I hear from every free thinker I have ever talked to on this subject.

I'm pretty sure we can determine how high b-ball-fan is by the length of his posts!

If I were high my post would probably be 3 times as long as my last one. No doubt I become even more chattier while high. Friends that I've gotten high with in the past can vouch for that.

Truth is that although I used to partake pretty frequently in the past, for about the last 5 years I've turned a new leaf and have only done it about a handful of times. I've nothing against it, but for a variety of personal reasons it didn't much fit anymore with how I wanted to be on a regular basis.

If I had to say what I miss most about it is that I used to frequently be inspired while high to write songs, and since I essentially quit, my songwriting has dried up and I'm not nearly as motivated to even pick up my guitar as much.

Get me high and the first thing I want to do is strum.

The other day I had to have a cystoscopy performed on me to investigate why I still have this 9 week UTI that I got from the hospital while in surgery for colon cancer, and it was done thankfully while they put me to sleep. When I woke up I felt like I was on top of the world and never wanted to come down. One of the first thoughts while all pleasantly doped up was that who wouldn't want to feel this way, and what have I been missing from staying away from pot? I didn't run home and start calling around to see what I could find, but dang... I sure wouldn't mind.

I'm pretty certain that I will never ever go back to partaking like I once did, but I could certainly see wanting to enjoy it again on special occasions.

One thing that I typically fail to mention when stating that pot is not such a big deal is that if someone is judging it by their first experience with it, they will undoubtedly get a distorted take on it. First timers and experienced users are two different things entirely. The body develops a certain tolerance towards it where the seasoned user can function with much ease, while the first timer will likely get stoned out of their minds and determine that it is dangerous as hell even though they'd probably like it. My first time all I could do was sit in a chair and giggle nonstop, and really had an extreme trippy experience where I couldn't really function properly until I came down. In the big picture of all my years of experience with it, that first time was really a rarity whereas I never again afterwards ever experienced it so dramatically.

I would highly recommend that anyone trying it for the first time to be in a controlled environment with someone else with them to watch over them, and to help them enjoy the experience without them freaking out.

Until the Feds legalize, I have no issue with NFL including it on the banned substance list.

Dude, it's not like acid. You eat a cupcake or two and you're fine.

I'm just talking about the first time.

I don't think that it was laced with anything, but my first time I was seriously big time stoned like I've never again been since. The effect it had on me was so trippy almost like it was acid or something.

I also once got high with a first timer who absolutely hated the experience, and I had to watch over him until he got settled down. Something about the experience made him feel like he was goings nuts, and he was pleading to come down. He said that he'd absolutely never do it again.

Typically though it doesn't have this effect on anyone who is used to it. I've seen some people, first time or not, all they want to do is sleep. For them it's pretty much a waste unless sleeping is what they wanted from it.

For me I typically would go into a hyperactive fantasy land mode where all I wanted to do was either be creative, talk constantly, or zone into music, or a good movie. A couple of hours in sometimes I'd then get sluggish and want to sleep, but not always as it would sometimes just fade out and that would be that.
