They don't care if they win. In many schools people making these decisions know or care nothing about football. It's just what is convienent for the school.

I do not agree that the Daviess County Administration does not care or know anything about football. The Principal and AD are both former coaches and have work hard to create a winning attitude.

 

Since the dismissal of Coach Kimbrell the DC assistant coaches have kept the program moving forward with a positive attitude. They have had a great turnout at the winter weight program.

 

The DC football team returns most of their skilled positions from last year and some good young athletes moving into the vacant positions. The biggest problem DC has had in the past is some of the best athletes in the school do not come out for football, this needs to change for DC to be successful every year.

This hire doesn't scream "homerun" but Branham has to be given an opportunity to prove himself and he'll have plenty of tools to do so next year. In my opinion, DC is going to find out very quickly if they made the right hire because the Panthers return most of their skill guys. Dc's biggest problem has been getting stops against good teams. If DC can shore up the defense the panthers could make some noise.

2. If the defense needs fixed why hire the defensive coordinator that ran it last year?

3. Why fire a coach and replace him with someone from his staff at all? I can see if Kimbrell was successful and left on his own, but not this.

It is just a very confusing hire especially when they had interest from a proven winner. if you were serious about changing the program why not look outside? It may work out but I anticipate more of the same mediocre results. You just don't get chances like what they had and to pass on it! I think everyone knows why the hire was made, I am sure that there were teaching issues. I am sure they do not have teaching positions, they just had to hire and this was the easiest. You can argue but I feel pretty accurate on the information I have received.

Daviess County has some good talent returning for the 2015 season.

I think Devils58 was simply implying we needed to give him a chance to show what he can do now that he has been hired. Not really fair to tear him down before he's coached a game.

 

That said, I understand where everyone is coming from here. Never understood firing a guy and hiring someone on his staff. I suppose high school is a lot different in the sense that most head coaches, at least in this area, don't get to pick their assistants. Maybe their is that much difference in philosophy?? Smart would have been the obvious choice but I don't know that he is the best fit for the type of offensive personnel DC has. Long term, I think Smart would have been a great choice.
