Seriously I hope they find someone who is A) good, and B) will stick around. A powerful X team is good for all of Jefferson Co. football. Just look at how a strong H team has (real or perceived) helped raise he level of high school football in Louisville over the last few years. Four years ago it was T and everyone else; it's much more fun when there are at least a half dozen teams in the discussion.

This is an awesome first post!

It will be even better if Wirth ends up as St X cincy's OC.

Yes, that would be interesting for the Bombers.

What about Louisville St. Xavier's nationwide search? Mike Glaser once gave me grief over Trinity "forcing Bob Beatty" to leave his home state and move to Louisville. Coach Glaser thought that was simply awful. :lol2:

Could be why Coach Glaser watches on Fridays now. His unwillingness to change with the times ultimately cost him. Coach Woodford has had a ton of changes on his offensive staff since he took over. I'd like to pose this question: what is more important, the same staff each year, or making the changes needed to get it right? Seems like Trinity had some defensive upheaval the past couple of years. Coach Beatty did what he had to do to fix it. Wolford's lack of experience has shown in staff turnover but he sure seems to have gotten the defensive side figured out. Maybe offense is next.

Changes to improve are fine. Changes just for the sake of change is not. The latter seems to be what has happened with Wolford.

Their offense didn't need improvement? Did you see them play?:isurrender:

Per the khsaa scoreboard website:

Glaser's last year (2012)- 37 points per game

Wolford's first year (2013) - 28 points per game

Wolford's second year (2014) - 20 points per game

Probably not the type of improvement the Wolford was looking for. Looks more like a downward trend.

Maybe they need to keep the QB's Dads from being on the staff. I'm sure most 17-18 year old kids don't want their Dads breathing down their neck while trying to play the most difficult position in sports.

I suspect he learned his lesson about dads on the staff. Bruins, i'd be interested in what you think the right move is. Should Wolford keep the staff intact to keep stability or should he bring in a new OC? I can't figure out what your solution is.

One solution is to get rid of Wolford and hire a head coach with actual high school coaching experience, whether it be head coaching experience or a proven assistant.

If that does not happen (which it probably will not), I think Wolford should clearly define what he wants the offense to be and work together with whomever he hires to put together a sound system. Then, he needs to support that coach to allow that coach to fully implement that system to develop throughout all levels of the program.

In other words, stick with something long enough to allow the players to get better at it. So far in his head coaching tenure, that has not happened. He has tried to cover up his lack of a philosophy and offensive direction by throwing another coach at the problem.

What about the receiver's coach from last year's team as an OC? He was a longtime head coach that was always pretty innovative with the offense of his teams.

There never has been a problem with the defense. The only problem the defense had was when the offense put them in a hole.

I wonder if anyone deep within the X camp thought that going into year 3 of the Coach Wolford experiment the results would be so underwealming?

No District championships

No Regional championships

0-3 vs. Male

1-3 vs. Trinity

Seems a lot like the results the previous staff was getting.

The previous staff had not lost to Male since 2006.

Per the khsaa scoreboard website:

Last 2 years of the Glaser tenure vs. Male:

4-0

Total Points in 4 games: 209 - 31

Avg. Per Game: 52 - 8

First 2 years of the Wolford tenure vs. Male:

0-3

Total Points in 3 games: 74 - 97

Avg. Pts. Per Game: 25 - 32

Let's base our opinions on fact, not perception.
