ESPN Chalk: Casinos Hoping UK Is Not Undefeated

Which Wildcat do you think they'll approach to try and throw a game?

Whew! Don't even joke about that. Old timers from the 1950s still grieve over the point shaving scandal of the early '50s. Probably cost UK a national championship.

And on another note, the '54 team was undefeated but chose not to play in the NCAA tournament because the NCAA wouldn't allow their students in graduate school to play, which is permitted today. The team that won the title that year, LaSalle, had lost by about 20 in the regular season to Kentucky. Under today's regulations UK would have had another national title.

I know a lot of these things because I sometimes attend UK games with the mayor of Booneville. He's 95 years old and has had UK season tickets since 1950. He has a friend who is 91 that has gone to the games with him since the 1970s. They sometimes talks about those dark days as we ride the hour and half trip to the games.

They also talk about the 1951 Sugar Bowl win over undefeated number 1 Oklahoma. In their opinions Kentucky won the football national championship that year and they're ticked that the national media don't recognize it as such.

This same little team that has beat little brother so many times. What a little world ul fans live in. Maybe one day you can be a big boy like UK

I think they were a big boy when they won the 2013 National Championship. I know Cal has owned UL since he took over the UK job but he's won exactly the same amount of National Titles as UL in that timeframe. And before you throw in UK's finish in the tourney I've heard from fellow UK fans time and time again that UK ONLY counts national championships.
