Kudos to Barnes for Conner -- young man had 18 in the 1st quarter with 4 three pointers. He was on fire. Must also say that Andy Flood did a great job face-guarding him in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

 

Cougars were white hot from the arc in the first half, I believe they shot 66% from the three point line before intermission.

 

Bo Schuh was a monster tonight, the under-sized Cougars had no answer for #11.

Might be the first kid who only played JV as a junior to then get the face-guard CCH D as a senior.

Fun game to watch. Conner led by 2 at the end of the 1st quarter and at the half. Pace of play was pretty fast. As mentioned, Barnes was a huge reason for that. Kid was red hot. Michael Scott picked up his 4th foul early in the 3rd quarter. CCH just had too much for Conner at that point and out scored them 24-8 in the 3rd. I believe the lead ballooned to 20. Kudos to Conner for continuing to fight. Lead got back down to 7 late in the 4th but CCH shot well from the line down the stretch to pull away and seal it.

I think that Conner, although they lost, can take a lot from this game. For 3 quarters they beat and/or played with the #1 team in NKY. That 3rd quarter was brutal. CCH came out with more energy, but once again there was a lot of selfish ball on the part of Conner resulting in bad shots and turnovers. I am hoping at some point this year the team realizes that they are 100% better when moving the ball. Barnes had a great game, but a lot of his points came off the bounce with a kick out to him which shows how this team has to operate. Great game to watch.

Who won the Freshman and JV games?

A lack luster defense for CCH had them trailing by 2 at the half.

Credit Conner, they were draining the open 3's and not backing down.

An inspired CovCath team came out and had a 24-6 third quarter to put the game away.
