I don't know how much zone Mason County has seen this season, but it was the predominant defense played by both teams that beat them this year.

 

Catholic looked sharp early on, but I thought they played too conservatively in the 4th quarter. Royals certainly came out energized in the second half & had two or three opportunities to tie the game with open looks from 3.

 

Hard to beat anyone only scoring 12 points in a half, which is what Mason got in the first 16 minutes. But this is the kind of game that will benefit the Royals. Holmes will be another good test for MC. Should be an entertaining game on Tuesday.

 

I thought Michael Talbot played well for LexCath, even though he missed some FT's. Johnson played a decent game as well, as did Griffin.

 

Thought Pig was solid for Mason County & Henry played well once he got going. As All In said, Mason County has to be sure they feed the monster.

Royals without lockdown defender Amani Thomas tonight due to an ankle sprain. Mason County got off to a horrendous start. Any game where Dorian Henry starts out with a 0% FG percentage will be a tough one for the Royals. Looking forward to seeing them bounce back Tuesday vs. Holmes at The Fieldhouse.

Other than a healthy Campbell County, Who in the 10th can play with them right now, not saying that won't change, but I don't see anyone else stepping up....

 

Let me repeat for you: Any of 4-5 teams could just as easily cut down the 10th nets and make it to Lexington.

 

The 10th Region Tournament will determine if anyone else can play with the Royals, not us going back and forth on a message board. Mason County is not that dominant of a team that it's going to be a cakewalk to the region title. There have been years where they were extremely more dominant than this year's team, and didn't even make it to the region final.

Spent the post-game meal at Pasquales with Randy Parker and his dorky (inside joke) family. Spent ost of that time listening to Augusta-Brossart updates and flipping coins to determine the 10th Region 2-10 rankings in the next weekly update. Not sure anything was settled.

 

PK and the victorious Polar Bear girls were there as well; congrats to them!

This was a great game to watch. LexCath is a very nice team with good depth all around. Mason got down early in this one and had to dig out all night.

 

I was surprised to not see a bigger crowd at the Fieldhouse. Kind of disappointed when you have this kind of matchup on a Saturday night. The general line of thinking was that the All A in Robertson County drew a large portion of fans away. Just didn't seem to be a strong home output from a fan perspective.

Very tough to fill the seats at The Fieldhouse... If this game was played in the majority of any other gyms in the state it's a packed house. Believe it or not, it was the biggest crowd there all season (including the Murph Classic). I'd expect a pretty decent crowd Tuesday when Holmes comes to town.

The Fieldhouse hasn't been THE Fieldhouse without a Lofton or a Miller. Also think Augusta's 2(almost 3) post season victories over Mason County have rocked the foundation(so to speak)

The biggest margin of victory one was at The Fieldhouse, but that wasn't my point. Should have clarified myself better. I meant those victories seem to have rocked the foundation of the fan base, not the gym itself. Plus, a lot of the people that helped fill that gym up over the years weren't as much MaCo fans as they were fans of Lofton,Miller etc. and though Henry is close, there isn't THAT player to get you to go there as much
