For a team that has the preseason number one player in the region and with Villers averaging almost 20 per game there is enough talent on that roster to have won at least 2 games by now. I just don't think the talent fits Biggs's system.

2 vs 0, wow let's string him up. You don't just all of a sudden forget how to coach.

I'm not blaming Biggs a bit. But I do think this team has more talent than some are leading on.

 

If you think you could win with that bunch, go ahead and give it a try. If Ashland lays this blame on Coach Biggs, they have made a big mistake. Biggs is a very good Coach. Rupp could not win with that talent level.

When kids don't play because a coach is to tough it says a lot more about the kid than it does the coach.

Honestly I don't have a problem with Biggs, I think he's a great guy, that doesn't always translate into a good coach though. It may be weak, in your opinion and I would normally not critisise a coach like I have him. But when the program is in the gutter because kids don't want to play for him and coaches don't want to coach with him, I feel like people should hear about it.

 

How is working hard in basketball different than almost every other sport? Do girls basketball players work hard? Ashland sure isn't struggling there. Do soccer players work hard? Again, Ashland isn't struggling there. Do football players work hard? What about baseball, track, swimming, etc? Do those players not work hard?

 

For you to say that basketball is different is a direct slap in the face to the players of the other sports. To me that is much worse than calling a coach out. The coach is a grown man and should be able to take it. Claiming that the kids of the of other sports don't have to work as hard is WEAK.

 

By the way, what does all this hard work Buddy instills translate to? Other than kids and coaches not wanting to be a part of the program, and 0 wins?

Why would the girls want to play on the boys team? They have two different teams for a reason. However the girls bball team is still successful. I guess thats because they dont have to work as hard as the boys team, so they still want to play for their coach? Hence there being plenty of talent available.

 

I have more information than you may imagine. A relative of mine, played under Biggs, for a short period of time. He played three sports at Ashland and is a D1 athlete at this period in time.

 

You keep saying all sports are different, since I mentioned that Ashland isn't struggling in any other sport. Could you please explain how they are different? Why, in your mind, do boys basketball players have to work harder than everyone else to succeed?

The preseason number one player in the region broke his foot 6 weeks ago so you can't include him in your argument. If he were healthy Ashland would have struggled but they would have won more than 1 game.

 

I think you have way too high an opinion of the current talent level at Ashland.

 

As for the criticism of Biggs, it goes with the territory when you are 1-18. Some of it is justified, most of it isn't. Many forget that he also had a top 10 regional player move to Cleveland over the summer. Couple that with an injury to his best player and you get 1-18. I'm sure there are kids who are not playing that could help but that was the case in 70's, 80's, and the 90's. Furthermore, I can only think of 1 kid who isn't playing that has played since they went to Blazer. So how would they know if they would like playing for the coach or not?
