Does anyone know of the teamsparticipating in the KOB along with RH?

Maybe there ready maybe there not but the fact is that the people over the King of the Bluegrass saw something they liked. The one thing about the Hill kids is that they will not back down or be in awe of any situation. Win or lose the Hill will be better for playing these type teams and get a ton of exposure in doing it.

Maybe Rickyp can get Mark Story to do an article on Rose Hill while we are in Lexington playing Catholic?

Im told the Hill has one game left to fill if you know of any tradition rich program that is in need of an easy win.

Rose Hill is going to be alot better next year, but some of the teams they scheduled they arent ready for.

 

Besides Catholic, who else are you referring to? I don't see another team on the schedule that RH won't be competitive with. Do I expect them to win the KOB? No, but I feel certain there will be some teams in the field they can beat.

 

Anyway, Rose Hill is willing to lose to anyone, especially at home, and like Royalblue said there is still an opening. A 16th region lose would be extra nice.

Maybe not, but how you get better is by playing people better than you - the tough competition makes you better by tournament time.

I, for one, am relieved. Ashland would never agree to come to Rose Hill for a game next year without some serious concessions from Rose Hill- like seeding the district. That would be a serious mistake on Rose Hill's part. It may work well for the next four to six years but, over the long run, it would be bad for the Royals. I don't believe in concessions of any kind.

 

Is the rest of the schedule correct? Hopefully, it is and, to be honest, Rose Hill doesn't need Ashland any more than Ashland needs Rose Hill. For a little more civility, each should avoid the other as much as possible for a few years other than when forced to play in tournaments.

 

It is good to see that Rose Hill is going to Morgan County. Is Ashland doing the same?

 

Ashland has contacted Morgan with a particular date in mind for this upcoming season...I cant exactly remember the specific date. But what does RH playing Morgan have anything to do with Ashland's schedule? I seem to remember Ashland beating Morgan Co. in the '04-'05 season at the N.S. Laurel tourney I believe, but I know what you mean, from the past seasons schedule it is obvious to anyone with two eyes that we shy away from tough competition.

Actually, you did play a better schedule than usual. However, I believe that you people tried to spin it to be a bit tougher than was really the case. Regardless, it did produce a quick exit, no real accomplishments, and a losing season.

 

I see that you are now trying to spin Patterson. Why would Patterson want to leave a powerhouse heavily favored to win a third state championship to come to a school with a losing record and prospects that are not particularly good for next season? Surely, no unbiased person would say that Ashland's tradition is superior to the tradition at HHS plus that fact is made stronger by the fact that HHS has won in the "modern age".

 

You know, I don't really want to fuel more Ashland-Rose Hill animousity but, if you want to know the team that played the toughest schedule this past season, it was obviously the Rose Hill girls. Of course, it was never mentioned by Rose Hill because we figured that knowledgeable people were aware of it without us continually reminding everyone (contrary to what some in our "neighborhood" felt the need to do). To the contrary, from the outcome of the season, the Rose Hill girls certainly didn't need it as an excuse for poor performance as did some.

Ashland wanted Morgan Co. to COME to Ashland on a particular date. Which is the date that I believe Morgan is already scheduled to play another team.

 

Morgan Co. needed home games as well. They (Morgan) also had to verify other games for their upcoming schedule.

 

Morgan later contacted Ashland and said THEY WOULD come to Ashland this season. However, Ashland filled their schedule.

Is anyone, including GIAT, really surprised? Ashland needs to realize that it does not hold a place of prominence that allows it to dictate the terms of competition with other schools. That may have been the case in the 1920s and 1930s but not now.

In Ashland's defense, they did contact Morgan Co. first!

 

The last 5 Morgan County/Ashland Blazer games have produced dandy's however.

One of the most memorable was the 1986 Regional Semi-Final when Morgan Co. just wore out the Tomcats by around 13-15 points...game wasn't that close...as the lead climbed to at or above 20 I believe. The underdog Cougars beat the Tomcats for to advance to their 2nd regional and 1st one since 1965 (15th Region)...the Cougars would fall to eventual Regional Champion East Carter led by Charlie Baker and son Brandon Baker at guard.

 

"WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN SINCE 1986" The Ashland sign that made it's way back to West Liberty had one heck of a party on Main Street that night. (The night of the 2004 Regional Championship)

After the 1993 regular season game, I don't believe these schools played home/away series...the mid 90's saw the Cougars have a very good team led by Mikie Day (1995, upset in regional tourney by East Carter in opening rd.) from there the Cougars would fall to one of their lower points and their was about a 4 year gap of futility. Then obviously with the come from behind District Championship in 2000, the Cougars would become a staple of the 16th region...from that point when Coach Perry took over....he has accumulated 145 wins, 55 losses....and plenty of hardware and 5 consecutive 20+ win seasons.

Girls?!? Im sorry but this is the boys forum. RH girls schedule has nothing to do with this, why would you even say something that is obviously so unrelated to the discussion?? I dont care who Patterson plays for next season, and Im not trying to "spin" him. Is he a great high school player? Sure. Could he dominate the 16th and single-handedly lead almost any school to Rupp? Sure. Do I think he is a major D1 prospect? No. I have no clue how the rumors started, and I truly have no idea why he would want to leave HHS for Ashland or any other school in the 16th.....

Give me a break. Do you honeslty think that the administration at Ashland sit around and make offers to another school that they know they cant accept so that they will be looked upon in a favorable light by people on BGP? That is absurd. Please let it go....
