In a school of 350 students??? I think he is in the top 3 or 4 in the 13,14,15,16th regions and top 25 in the state. Hard to argue with numbers. I would like to see what he could do over time in a school with 700 to 1200 students to choose from.

Try telling that to these small schools that battle 1,000+ enrollments.

Has to be very good and he belongs on the list.

 

Bevars has been at North Hardin 25+ years and has had his pick of athletes. For a few of those years this school and Central Hardin were the two largest high schools in Kentucky. One would think with that kind of talent pool, it'd be fairly easy to dominate in basketball. In the early 80's he had three Div. I players on the same team with the other two players going Div. II...and still couldn't win a state championship. I'd think the criteria for a very good coach would be to develop players, teach the game, and then know how to strategize to win games. Even mediocre coaches can have winning seasons if they have the right players.

Yes, he did state that both Zornes and Ward are "former" coaches, and I give him credit for that. At the same time, I went back to the very first post of the thread, just to see if I had misread it:

Who are the top head coaches still coaching in Ky?

 

After comparing the initial question ("still coaching"), with the response ("former"), my keen wits and lightning quick reflexes enabled me to note that the answer provided did not jive with the question asked, and I thought I would point out the discrepancy.

Yeah, the thread question was currently coaching in KY? and PG noted those guys former schools but didnt clarify their current status. Frances likes to keep you guys straight. Now me being even more anal retentive than the Queen Bee, I will add that Zornes is @ Ironton, OH where they were runners-up to Mayo Inc. last year and Ward is @ Portsmouth, OH uh.. West I believe. He started & still heads up the KY-OH allstar game now at Thomas Moore.

Not to dispute your anal retentiveness (well noted as it is), Woodrow, but Zornes is no longer the coach at Ironton. He stepped down after the run to the championship game last season.

but I wouldnt necessarily say they don't like basketball getting pub.

 

I recall one year where they were state runnersup in football, baseball and at least top 4 in basketball. They just like to win.

Now don't think about soccer or something that would compete with football.:fight:

 

I could see a coach not staying there due to "personality" issues though.

Forest always seems to have Oldham County in the hunt for a Region title year after year. I think the last 3 years he has lost something like 16 players to graduation, but always does a great job of reloading.
