I believe they would be better off adding some human element to selection & seeding the 20 Louisville teams to play in the LIT. Create a committee of coaches & ADs to create a competitive bracket. They could start with the Lit Rating or Seth rating to select the teams, then have the committee seed the teams. The Seth rating are flawed because they start where you finished last season in the Steh. The Lit rating used does not provide enough data with 1 month of play.

The ratings are the best thing we have had. Using human element you will have politics in it and teams will get screwed. Seeding does not really matter, as long as you are a top 4 seed. There is not a system that will make everyone happy. The old system would screw teams out of the LIT that deserves it. Everyone knows the system and how it is formulated. There is no way to rank out of state teams. If you think the Ballards and Prp of the world are happy with a runner up you are incorrect, they go in trying to win it. You have to beat good teams sooner or later.

They would be better off adding a common sense element. Anyone who has watched basketball this season knows that Trinity is either 1-2 in the LIT.

They should form a panel of guys like myself who watch a lot of high school basketball and has no rooting interest whatsoever.

According to the Seth Ranking, Ballard is the clear cut favorite #1 in Louisville. Last year that would have been true, this year not....

 

Yeah but the SETH ranking basically starts you from last the last season, which I don't agree with, but there's not going to be any perfect system. You just have to get in the field and let the teams play it out on the court.

With the LIT ranking it was almost impossible for teams who were having a good season to make the LIT if they were coming off a bad year. I know Iroquois missed out on it one year because of close wins. Holy Cross was 15-1 and beat PRP and missed out because they started so far down in the LIT rankings. The Seth makes it so everyone is at least within striking distance of each other. The top team is at 80 (Ballard) the last place team #36 is at 70. No one knows the LIT formula anyone can find out the SETH formula.
