3wishes Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 This was the hardest hit that I've ever seen, while the film doesn't really do the hit justice it is still pretty remarkable. This was two seniors hitting head on just moments before the Rockcastle County vs. Clay County matchup this past season. (2005) The two players are running through the spirit line which was approx. 50 yards in length, unfortunately they were going towards each other and they meet at the banner the cheerleaders were holding up, a direct hit. The two players are from Rock and were two way starters, they had to sit out the game with a concussion and broke nose. This greatly impacted the rest of the game for the Rock as it was a 21-12 ballgame against Clay County. Enjoy and comment if need be. *Let it be noted that this is not my submission, I found this link online from someone who had posted it earlier. http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=603396518&n=2
Goliath Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Couldn't see the other player that well. The kid coming through the spirit line jus collapsed though.
Kevo302 Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Check out these hits http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4804555374987665855&q=hardest+hits Bring the wood!
3wishes Posted March 28, 2006 Author Posted March 28, 2006 Check out these hits http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4804555374987665855&q=hardest+hits Bring the wood! Yes those are good as well, I've seen many of them on NFL Films.
iPapi Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Did anyone notice former N.Y Jet punter Tom Tupa laying some wood??? Almost forgot what a ferocious hitter Steve Atwater was, too. That hit on Christian "The Nigeirian Nightmare" is one everyone should see.:thumb:
iPapi Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 BTW......I spelled Christian Okoye's nickname wrong intentionally.
oldonetechnique Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Most of those hits would be fines in the NFL these days, Jack Tatum and Ronnie Lott would have had a hard time making a living these days.
Hey-Ref Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Anyone care to count how many of those hits are illegal? On the first run through I counted 8 or 9 with the helmet leading alone, and more with the tackler throwing a forearm ahead of the contact. I also saw at least one where the runner could be flagged for spearing when he puts his head down into the numbers of a would be tackler.
iPapi Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Most of those hits would be fines in the NFL these days, Jack Tatum and Ronnie Lott would have had a hard time making a living these days. I was thinking the same exact thing when I was watching the video.
bellalumni40 Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Seems like Montana took several big hits in that one.
DragonFire Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 This is the biggest hit I've ever seen in person. It's from the Warren Central/Graves County playoff game from this past season. The video is a little blocky on Google Video, but you should get the effect: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6781478597377774709
GR8BigBull Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 All those headhunters in one video, Tatum, Atwater, Lott, AND Largent!?! I remember that hit by Steve Largent on the Bronco's DB that intercepted the pass. I agree it is a shame that the majority of the hits on the video would be penalized and/or fined. How about the hit Tatum put on Earl Campbell and the one that Campbell levied on the Ram's Linebacker.:fight:
LeatherFace Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Hardest hit I've seen in high school was two 4A schools in WKY were playing in the first round of the playoffs a couple of years back. A kid was returning a kick off and he absolutely got blasted, it was nasty. He jumps up real quick, runs off to the wrong side lines at about the 15 yard line with a concussion and a completely seperated shoulder, limping like a deer that's been hit by a truck. As soon as he got to the sideline, he dropped like someone shot him with a rifle. When I look back on it, the chain of events is funny because the player jump up real fast, hobbled off the field then just dropped. It was like a total re-enactment of a deer getting hit by a vehicle.
