December 30, 201411 yr People whine about LF and then they look at someone and they aren't good enough. Byrd hit 24/25 HR's with at least 85 RBI's the last two years. If your referencing Ludwick in 2012 then your more in the ballpark. 2013/2014 Ludwick... Even if Byrd regresses he is an upgrade.

He needs one more year of minor league grooming. He'll be a mainstay in the big league in 2016 though. The only option now is Negron. They need to add a LF still and an 1 year 8mil contract doesn't have any long term risk to it.
