The most unique part of the old Bracken Co gym to me was that if you were sitting in the top row, your head was inches from the ceiling. You were literally in the rafters and the place could get loud, especially if you were there during a district tournament game.

 

I'll have to see if I can find some pictures of it in better days, at least ones where they aren't demolishing it.

In the spring of 1998 Brossart Mustangs Chris Hagedorn (#14), Nathan Seiter (#22) and a group of 10th Region All-Stars had the privilege of playing against then National Champion University of Kentucky seniors. Here Chris and Nate are pictured with Jeff Shepherd and Cameron Mills.

 

I'm pretty sure this game was played at the "new" Bracken County High School.

Wasn't that called the "Barnstorming" tour those UK seniors went on all over the state? I vaguely remember this. Nathan Seiter was a great shooter.

 

Funny story:

 

It was the 1998 10th Region All A in the old Deming High School gym and it was the championship game. Of course it was my senior year at Bracken County and I was in the pep section at full throttle :lol2: and where we were sitting was the end where Brossart was on in their pregame warm up. Well Nathan noticed this and started shooting threes and making his way over to our side (didn't miss the entire time). Once he got in front of us he went on to make 6-7 in a row and made sure to hold up however many fingers corresponded to the made three. At the time we were not impressed to say the least :lol2:, but little did we know how great of a game we were getting ready to witness. Looking back now I can appreciate how great of a pure shooter he was, and I will never forget that night in Mt. Olivet.

Next to Chris Owens, the ????? is Jeff Gallenstein (1981). To Joe McKay's left is Jamie Whaley. Danny McKay (1979) is not in this picture. He was not at this Alumni Game in June of 2014. Gentleman in blue shorts was a person who was in religious training from St. Pat Church that was invited to play. Can't remember his name. Joe???
