Local Support

Featured Replies

Community support is so important for a local sports program. It comes in many forms and I'm sure everyone has stories of things done for their team.

I wanted to shout out to our local Food City for their support of Belfry High School and their sports programs. I know this is a small thing, compared to the many hours that various volunteers, parents and boosters provide, but I just thought this was cool.

Back in August, I posted this pic in the Harlan County / Belfry thread, but I still think it is awesome. This was the display at the local Food City that day...

I guess Coca Cola's local distributor gets equal credit here, very creative :thumb:

Here is another Food City example. Last week these began showing up on their shelves, and they have been a popular item.

That's awesome!

That's great when a community only has one school and can pull together like that.

In Somerset we have 4 High Schools (3 public 1 private) all within 1/2 mile of the City Limits, it's hard for a business to overtly support one without upsetting fans/alum from the others.

This make no sense considering the county requirement that you must play for at least 3 of the 4 schools before you can graduate.

Our WalMart does this when we play Graves County our cross town neighbor

Rules were recently changed, you only have to attend 2 High Schools to graduate, IF you attended at least 2 different Middle Schools before going to High School.

A local Bank gives these water bottles away the week of the Tijghman game

Good stuff Toothpick. :thumb:

These two communities probably share a lot in common, close proximity not being one of them.

The Coke display is awesome. I wouldn't call that a small thing. :thumb:

Yeah, it is really cool. I wonder how they map that out? Must have a computer program that does it.

Either that, or someone that has a much better imagination than me. :lol2:
