Since this is a topic in every basketball thread posted here, I thought it deserved its own thread. Do you read many basketball threads on BGP?

According to many the officials and Covcath beat NCC in the 9th region semi's last year. If not for the refs that day Ncc is the defending state champion. The refs also beat Ncc last night. Not Doss. Perhaps you could look at Ncc's all time record. Let's say for example its 432-373. Theres 373 times the refs decided a game.

I deleted my post, that's my bad. My response was a little in frustration of someone continually posting thinking ppl are listening. My bad on my quick post.

 

I think games have be won/lost based on a bad call. That happens each year regardless of the sport. Officials do make mistakes they are human. That isn't really what I feel this question is about. My question would be, have officials dictated how a game was to be played and the outcome could have been different had it been called more loose or even more tight.

Do you think before you type. It's obvious above that I didn't and I attempted to correct myself. Whereas your constants chatter spews with disdain and ignorance of the game and the school.

I'm going to say it doesn't happen often, but never is a strong word. There have definitely been instances where officiating determined the outcome of a game, somewhere. It doesn't happen often but it has and does happen.

I believe it is true. I hear coaches say, "grab the ball if you can, don't let the ref have to make a call." Every play on the court is influenced by the players on the court. Referees are human and make mistakes. Sometimes they make a whole lot of mistakes. The only way the refs can cost a team a game is if the team doesn't miss a shot, free throw or commit a turnover. The refs can't make shots, free throws or commit turnovers. A referee's call(s) can influence a game and plays on the court but ultimately the result of the game is in the hands of the players. Not even coaches can truly win or lose games.

Are you kidding? Have you have ever taken a team outside your region to compete in a tournament? Its very common for officiating to biased towards local teams participation. Officiating bias in High School Basketball is common and most definitely influences results and occurs in situations where the offended team has limited avenues of holding such officiating accountable!

And that is because coaches from the region you officiate in are who rate you at season's end. A lot more likely to get higher ratings if you helped that coach out with a little homecooking when an out of region foe who has no bearing on your ratings comes to town.

What fault is it to the players if the coach's gameplan give them zero chance to win? Go against what their coach is telling them to give themselves a better chance at winning? Yeah, I'm sure that would go over GREAT at the next timeout.

I have seen that example happen way too many times in my lifetime.
