Bank Holiday Classic at Lexington Catholic High School

 

The George Rogers Clark High School girls basketball team will be in elite company this weekend.

The Lady Cardinals (5-2) will compete in the Traditional Bank Holiday Classic at Lexington Catholic High School set for Friday-Tuesday. A total of 24 teams will vie for the title, and five of those teams, including Clark, defending state champion Butler and runner-up Elizabethtown — competed in the Girls’ Sweet Sixteen last year.

 

“I really think this is the best tournament in the state,” Lexington Catholic girls coach and tournament organizer Scott True said. “Elizabethtown and Butler would be considered the favorites, but the field is very deep. Ashland, Clark, Mercy, Sacred Heart and East Carter are all very good.”

 

True, formerly the coach at Clark, said the tournament also will showcase some of the top teams from one end of the state to another.

 

“We also have a great variety of teams from all over the state from Bowling Green to Ashland and every place in between,” True said. “We will be a great event showcasing the best teams in the state.”

Saw McLendon walking out with both knees and an ankle wrapped with ice. Did she get banged up or just typical post game soreness/prevention?

It was Turner, not McClendon. Two girls fell/dove/rolled on her ankles and took her out of the game. Not sure how bad she's hurt.

Didn't see the game, but it was definitely McLendon I saw hobbling accross the parking lot. She look really sore more than injured but wasnt sure. Wow, Turner got hurt also? Any know how bad?

Dozer, turns out we were both right. Turner was knocked out of the game with a foot injury and was sitting with a bag of ice on it. McClendon finished out the game with a turned ankle and after the game turned to the ice. Both guards played in the Indians' win over Sacred Heart today, but neither was anywhere close to full speed (see the HC/Sacred Heart post). In fact, Turner was in and out with probably more minutes on the bench. That's a shame, because both of these young women are special players.

Lewis County beat George Rogers Clark by 42. Wasn't at the game just saw the score. Not sure what the story is but Ouch.

etown just beat east carter by 19 I believe
