Rank the 9th Region as of 12/16/14

Considering tonight's games, as well as what we've already seen from all the teams in the 9th thus far, and also considering early season cobwebs and waiting for football players to arrive, here's my take "RIGHT NOW" on Region 9 from top to bottom.

I'm not even 100% sold on my own picks as it's hard to be completely scientific, and I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts about where all these team should be placed.

What you say?

If you'd move any of these teams, make your case.

01. NewCath

02. CovCath

03. Dixie

04. Holmes

05. Holy Cross

06. Cooper

07. St. Henry

08. Lloyd

09. Newport

10. Highlands

11. Boone

12. Conner

13. Beechwood

14. Ryle

15. Ludlow

16. Bellevue

17. Dayton

18. Villa

19. Latin

Holy Cross is definitely turning some heads. It is hard to see Holmes ahead of them at this stage.

This region is between Covington Catholic and NCC.

Dixie will be in the next group and I think Cooper will be heard from as well.

You can throw the rest into a hat.

I agree both Holy Cross and Cooper could very well make districts and regional interesting this year.

With Dixie's two football guys back just give them some time to get back and get the gears greased and they will be a force.

Sorry Walter, but there's no way that Holmes is better than Dixie this year.

I guess we'll find out February 4th.

Newcath and Covcath are the class of the 9th region but after that I think Holmes, Cooper, and Dixie are all capable of beating one another.

Despite their start, I'm still not sold on Holy Cross. Guess I need to get out and watch them in person.

If they are for real, then its going to be a lot of fun to see which 2 teams makes it out of that district!

How does their district seed for the tourney? Would the #3 team in the district be on the same side of the bracket with #2? Or #1 seed?

With you. I've seen them once in person, at CovCath, and it was Men vs Boys. They have some nice pieces, and Bezold is certainly crafty and can stroke it, but they are very small. I think that has come to the forefront in the best two teams they've played, CovCath and the Camels, as neither game was close.

I can give you several reasons why I think Cooper is better than Holy Cross, but at the end of the day, they have a double digit win over them, so hard to put Cooper above them. That said, if they played again, I'd certainly love Cooper's chances.

4 plays Latin, then you have 1vs4(or Latin) on one half, and 2vs3 on the other. The Holmes / Holy Cross game in the District Semi's could be a must see game this year, if that is how it shakes out.

I am a Bulldogs fan, but honestly it is between NewCath and CovCath for the regional title and there is no one even remotely close to those two.

After NCC and CCH you can throw the rest in a hat because they all are playing for 3rd place.
