The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies

Featured Replies

Not midnight, but I'll catch it over the holidays.

I was so bitterly disappointed with the second one that I don't know when I'll see this. Probably sometime in the next few weeks. It's still Tolkien so I'll see it sooner rather than later.

Anyone else going to midnight?

You dressing up as Gandalf too?

I wont' be going tonight, but I do plan on seeing it soon. I like the Lord of the Rings trilogy much more, but I still enjoy these as well.

I'll have to wait until it comes out on DVD or online. None of my friends are Hobbit/LOTR fans.

Nothing wrong with going to a movie by yourself. I've done it for the last two Hobbits. Might have a buddy for this one.

Agreed. Sometimes it's the only way to catch all the movies you want to see.

I know a lot of people who are so against it, like its very taboo. I don't mind it at all.

I used to be that way a little but practicality trumps it for me. I like to see as many of the Oscar-nominated movies as I can every year, which sometimes means going to two or more movies in a week in January. It's just not feasible to wait on finding people to go with you when going that often and usually under a time constraint of a run lasting sometimes only a couple weeks.

I feel pretty much the same.

I was really impressed. I enjoyed it immensely and think I'll end up going to see it again.

Saw it tonight and it was fun. Seemed like it took a good 45 minutes after Oakenshield kills the big orc to tie up all the loose ends and do the setups for LOTR.

I enjoyed the setups for LOTR but overall I thought this was the worst of the three, and really the six.

I've not had a chance to see it but plan on watching it next week.

I really liked the first two and from the reviews I've read this one is good. One reviewer said that the special effects in this one are the best he'd ever seen and may not be topped for many years to come. That definitely makes it a must see for me.

I realize Jackson took some artistic liberties that deviated somewhat from the book, but from what I observed from the other two films they're not enough to really hurt the original story or be distracting.

Not bad at all. 3 stars out of 4.
