Voice of Reason
This is a bit of an upset I would assume? Beechwood goes to 3-0.

MentschTrachtGottLacht
..... Wow. Not sure if this says more about The Wood or The Stangs, but regardless, huge congrats to the Tigers. A bigger Code fan than me you'll never find, so I'm sure he'll coach them up. Look forward to seeing Beechwood soon.
EQUUS GREVYI
Could be a long season for the Mustangs, both boys and girls.

Voice of Reason
And already three conference losses. Holmes, St. Henry and Beechwood ... right?
EQUUS GREVYI
Yep. Granted, Beechwood and St. Henry have respectable teams this season, but those aren't teams Brossart is accustomed to losing to. Couple that with a "nail biter" at the Grove and it foreshadows a challenging season.

It is still really early so everything is a work in progress. Regardless, nice win for Beechwood.

Mustang
I've said it before, we are not your fathers Mustangs. We have some talented players but have developed a penchant for falling behind early and then having to dig out of holes. Tonight was no exception. The first half was reminicent of the first half at Silver Grove. A lackluster 6 point first quarter and only 7 more in the second. Beechwood came to play and put up first half quarters of 12 and 12 giving them an 11 point lead at the half. Mustangs right the ship in the third, come out of the gate and score five unanswered. Beechwood answers back and that was the tale of the second half. We'd cut their lead, get to where they'd hear footsteps and the Tigers responded by hitting a big shot or connecting on free-throws. Once we had it to 5 and another time 4 with two free-throws that could have cut it to two. Hats off to the Tigers who hit shot after shot, and went 24 of 31 from the free-throw line in the second half to hold the Mustangs at bay and get the win. We'll get back in the gym, strive to get better, and then bait 'em up and throw them out there again on Saturday night vs Highlands. My numbers differ just slightly from those posted above. I've got both Jacob Huff and J.T. Toebbe with 21, Jonathan Stokes and Connor Brock with 7 each, Ben Toebbe with 5, and Ryan Bankamper with 1. For Brossart Spencer Hackworth 17, Jacob Zai and Jon Zink with 16 each, Clay Kramer 3, and Jackson Crawford (who experienced a death in his immediate family earlier today) with 2. Beechwood 29 of 38 from the line, Brossart 20 of 31. Mustangs at 2-3, Beechies at 3-

Mustang
There were questions raised last night as to when was the last time that the Beechwood Tigers defeated Bishop Brossart. Beechwood joined NKAC Div II in 2011-12 and the Mustangs won their annual bout from then until this year. Previous to that the two teams had not played since Brossart graduated from NKAC Div III in 1997. While the Mustangs won D-III from 1991 through 1996 I do remember losing to the Tigers in Fort Mitchell in 1995. I remember this because Rodney Sendlebach was a senior that year and finished the season with 1,000 points exactly. I remember commenting to him that I wish he had 1,002 career points, since he missed a layup that cost us a win over Beechwood that year.
