I'd say a lot of those stats were not sent in. The coach from Tollesboro put together a book with all the schools game box scores in it if anybody has access to it they could clarify for us.

I remember watching North Laurel survive a three-point onslaught from a kid from Middlesboro named Stuart Miller — his dad was coach, I think. Anyway, guy went something like 11-for-23 or 24 in a 39-point game, but his team fell short 83-78.

Imagine what his 69 point game total would have been with a 3 point line!

That's what I've often thought about Rick Mount (Purdue) and Louie Dampier (UK) on the collegiate level. Heck, UK used to run a play to get Louie a jumper at the top of the circle.

At Cumberland TN. Should have been 1993 or 94. Sue Bennett vs Cumberland Tn. Not exactly a high profile game. lol We was pretty good that year. We knocked off Georgetown when they was 18-0 and ranked no.1 in the country in NAIA.

We as a team shot a lot of threes. We would put up 40 a game as a team most nights. It was a lot of fun.

You probably liked Dean Smith and Phil Ford and the 4 corners too...

In a way I did...it was North Carolina's identity and reason to root against them. You have to have teams to root against more than those to root for. Makes the game more interesting. The 3 point line and the shot clock has taken away variety among teams. Everyone pretty much plays the same style now.

 

Before these rules were adopted in college you used to have running teams like Louisville and Phi Slamma Jamma and you had tempo-control teams like Carolina and Indiana and you had lock down defensive-minded teams like Georgetown. You don't have that variety anymore and you don't get to see David knock off Goliath like you used to with NC State in 83 and Villanova in 85.
