BluegrassPreps.com Girls Preseason Basketball Rankings for 2014-15

HHS looked pretty good against Shelby Co. Think the final was 62-46. HHS offensively looked pretty good. This team is very unselfish and has a ton of ball handlers...even the bigs can handle it very well. They all have good basketball skills and excellent team chemistry. All Very nice to have. They all shoot it well too. Adler is the known 3 point threat, but I think HHS had 5 threes in the first qtr from 4 different people and Adler had none of those 5! Two came from our 6'1" center! They never run many sets in their scrimmages, so I expect the offensive efficiency to get even better. They also had two girls (from their top 8) out with injury. This team can spread you out, get in the gaps and hit the open shot consistently.

Now for the defensive side!!! BTW, I'm a defensive minded person when it comes to bball, so I can be a tough critic on D. I thought the defense was bad. However, I have no fear they will "remind" them how to play defense. I watched this team shut teams down on many nights last year, so I don't feel defense will be an issue going forward. They are long time AAU players and all know how to play defense, they just didn't do it the other day...IMO. This team is "longer" than you think. They get a lot of tipped balls that disrupt the passing lanes.

It was a good scrimmage against a good team. Shelby is the type of team that usually gives this HHS group a challenge (big and physical). But I thought HHS held their own there.

Shelby appeared well coached and should have a good season. They have some girls that can get to the basket, are big and can finish. Also think their guards will continue to develop and make them even better later in the season.

Should be a great season in the 9th. Just can't wait to get it started!

Shelby and Highlands was a great scrimmage for both teams. Score for Varsity game was 53-49. Highlands won first quarter by 7. 23-16. Shelby won the next 3 by 1. Both teams should have good seasons

Here's the scores that were on the scoreboard at the end of each quarter. I typed them in my phone each time the quarter ended. I guess the scoreboard could have been wrong.

26-16 HHS

15-12 Shelby

12-10 hhs

9-8 hhs

I wouldn't get too caught up in the scores of a scrimmage.

See that my Lady Cards come in at #6. We diffidently have the bulls eye on our backs for the 10th region title and should be considered the team to beat in the 10th. Can't wait for the season to start. Dec 6th we will see #6 GRC vs #15 Holmes. Coach Graham has put together another brutal schedule to get his team ready for another post season run. One of our scrimmages was against #2 Butler.

Completely agree. I was just going by what the scoreboard said. It may not have even been right! Ready for the season to start. The Bird get Henry Clay today! Should be a good contest!

Unranked Louisville Eastern beat ranked Louisville Mercy last night.

Also, pretty good chance E'town loses this weekend. HOWEVER, Friday's game is against the No. 9 team in the country and Saturday's game is against the No. 1 team in the country.

Even if E'town goes 0-2 in Tennessee this weekend, not sure E'town should fall below teams who are playing cupcakes the first two weeks of the season.

Just a warning for those who think E'town is struggling if it loses early. Not the case. E'town is playing nationally ranked teams with 3-4 D-I players on each team. Shouldn't fault E'town for challenging itself like that.

(Kind of like in football when people hopped off the Louisville Central and Louisville Trinity bandwagons early even though 6-A Trinity was playing out-of-state powerhouses and 3-A Central was playing 5-A and 6-A programs).

#17 ranked Highlands easily handled #10 Sacred Heart from the start, does that move them up?

these rankings are over a week old. We need to ask GURU to crack the whip!

The new rankings will come out next week after a week of playing. Those were preseason rankings. If Highlands continues to play well they will move up. Was a good win for Coach Jamie Walz Richey and Coach Bert Richey.
