CCH favorite for 9th region in ’06?

Featured Replies

I know I'm going to hear it from some CCH fans, but I feel very strongly about this and this season I have NO biased opinions about this PG topic.

Mark my word, Brandon Brown will not be the normal starting point guard next season. One of the sophmores will step up next year and take the starting job. Brown will play, but in a role kind of like Randy Myers did two seasons ago.

Brandon plays good defense, but its not like his defense is heads above Roll or Bondick's defense. They both are better offensively than Brandon, and that is why his time will be less than people are expecting.

I think Bondick will get a lot of PT and may start at PG. The Brown/Myers comparison is solid.

The only disagreement is in you saying the B Brown's D is not far better than the others. It is.

Also we shouldn't forget that when Timmy got hurt, Brandon Brown replaced him in the starting line up and did an excellent job, beating Lex. Lafayette (and shutting down Gifford) for his five games.

Good points cch--I'm a big B. Brown fan, but why did he see so little PT when Timmy got back? Did he fall from favor, the football thing, what?? He seemed like he could have given some valuable minutes down the stretch??

No secret. B Brown needs to improve his offensive game and his ballhandling.

CCH's advantage over every team next year will be depth.

Inside: Schult, Cahill, A.Noll, Schmerge, Maile, Lampl

Outside: Jacobs, Bovard, Brown, Garnick, Rolle, Bondick, Shover

Don't forget possibly the best sophmore of the whole group Mr. Grimes. JV MVP and very good scorer. He is very impressive. Lample reminds me of Michael Young physically, but isn't even as strong on the inside as Young was.

Maile is very strong for a freshman, and handles the ball well. But where will he play on the varsity level. His 3pt shot is OK, not great. Hard to play him on the inside at his height and many people at CCH think he is done growing.

A.Noll is a long kid. Can block alot of shots and is more mobile than his older brother Danny was. But his outside shot isn't as good as Danny's and he has to get strong to become a threat on the post.

Billy Schult will be the man in the middle next season. I've seen him do nothing but keep working on his game since the season was over and the kid continues to impress me. He is a very hard worker and IMO he will be the best rebounder in the region next year. His scoring will have to go up though, and we did see some spurts of this late in the season.

The 3rd guard spot will be up for grabs between Rolle and Bondick, IMO. As I stated in an earlier post. Many would ponder on what happened to Garnick this season. He is a solid scorer and has quickness that would help give Todd some breathers. But then again, from what I hear, don't be surprised if he moves on.

Don't forget possibly the best sophmore of the whole group Mr. Grimes. .

Wow. Brain cramp on my part. How can I forget the glue of that bunch?

Good catch.

I just want to throw it out there that I was not discrediting CCH so this is thrown at me later. All I was saying is I think the BIG 3 of the 35th are very close and are the cream of the crop as of right now by far.

No sweat. Replacing Tierney is an obvious concern. HC has shown they can contend. It will, once again, be a brutal 35th.

35th top district in state possibly?
