CCH favorite for 9th region in ’06?

Featured Replies

Before you write off a 6'5 kid who is athletic and still developing , let me say two words:

Michael Romes.

Clay Lampl is no Michael Romes. Romes was a good ball handler and could take it to the hoop off the dripple. Lampl has limited post moves and is not very strong. Being 6'5 that helps... but they played completely different roles and positions.

Yes but when Romes was a CovCath sophmore no one would have said that he would eventually be the leading scorer in NKY. That is more of cshs's point. That being said I agree with you that he is more limited.

Again...

You cannot write off a 6'5 athletic kid after his SOPH year.

Mark my words: this young man will contribute to the success of CCH b-ball before he leaves CCH.

On paper your going to be hard pressed to convince me that CCH is that much better than HC.

Holmes is my number 1 they return everyone who was starting at season end, and will have a whole year to put Greg Rice behind them.

The Rice incident allowed more big men to recieve minutes and could have been the best thing for the Holmes programs over the next two years.

1.Holmes

2. CCH

3. HC

HC needs to make the step and win a game come postseason.

Best 3 teams in the region are from the 35th.

BigStud - Hasn't this been your opinion ever since BGP started? Has Holy Cross even beaten Cov Cath since BGP has been around?

No that has not been my opinion since I've been on here. I can pull up quotes to show this. I had defended one player to be good, but never considered HC a top team until this year. But not even this year did I say HC was better, but I did say I could not pick against them. Next year, I just think HC returns alot.

The key to next year for HC is the devolpment of Giwa. I think HC is strong everywhere else.

Plus thats my point in taking that step. I believe like the last 4 games HC and CCH have played they have been nail biters. The talent levels of the two schools on every level have been very close the last two years HC can't make that jump. ALA CCH vs Highlands in football.

...and until my boys at CCH beat the birds on the gridiron we cannot continue to say "we're almost as good".

CCH's advantage over every team next year will be depth.

Inside: Schult, Cahill, A.Noll, Schmerge, Maile, Lampl

Outside: Jacobs, Bovard, Brown, Garnick, Rolle, Bondick, Shover

This team will rival , if not surpass, the 04 team as far as total depth goes.

It will be a challenge for Coach L to get PT for everyone. Its a nice challenge to have.

BTW, I say that Cahill will be the breakout player next year. The kid is long, athletic(notice who runs the top of the 1-3-1 when he's in), and has a smooth stroke. He will be the DNoll of 06-07.

Question is PG. Timmy T played alot of mintues there with TJ usually spelling him. CCH really didn't allow anyone else alot of experience at the position.

You mean like when TT was SOPH and backed up Nesto? It worked out OK.

Or do you mean like when Bibbins played 99% of the game for HC 2 years ago? That worked out alright as well.

When you run a 3 guard offense, the PG is not a true PG. You have 3 PGs on the floor at most times. TJ was one of the 3 best PGs in NKY this year.

Actually both Dane Lantry and the Marcus kid for HC both got plenty of PT during Bibbins tenure at pg. I'm just saying in a district they are playing in there is alot of talent at PG.

To be honest with I think Timmy T meant alot more to this team than any other player. He set up the shots for alot of people. TJ is able to create his own shot, but not many others on the proved the could.

The new CCH pg very well could prove this wrong. All I'm saying is its a question mark coming into the season. The same way Holmes has a question mark in the front court.

1. Timmy T was the most important player.

2. Don't know if Cahill and Lampl will be breakout players like you are saying cshs81, they don't have the incredible work ethic that Dnoll had.

3. Depth will be the key. After TJ, Bo, and Schult (the three with the most varsity experience), the talent gap from Brown and Cahill down the line to Lampl and Shover is not that different. Just a matter of who of the 10 in the supporting cast will step it up.

Also we shouldn't forget that when Timmy got hurt, Brandon Brown replaced him in the starting line up and did an excellent job, beating Lex. Lafayette (and shutting down Gifford) for his five games.
