Williamsburg played man against our two back set and put 8 in the box. We tried running the ball, we got nothing. We tried passing and we got barely anything. But in the second quarter, they backed their outside linebackers (they played a 3-4) off the line a little bit and we drove it down the field 85 yards just running the ball. There was one pass on that drive and it was a fast screen for about 6 yards. That's where we found their weakness. We came out in the second half trying to do the same thing and they pulled their one high safety down to about 6 yards from the LOS and had man on man with the corners and one of the outside backers. Excellent coaching for the Jackets. We hadn't seen that all year. We weren't prepared for it. We prepared for a cover 3 with their outside backers in the flats.

 

For the Rams defense, we played zone and their QB picked us apart. They ran curl routes all night and sat behind our LBs. They did very well on offense.

Our head coach refused to take charter buses if that counts!

 

Like I said before, most of the players were happy to be there. Doesn't necessarily mean they were better. Who knows, maybe they were better than Raceland. I honestly don't know. To find that out, there has to be equality done to each side. So, to find out the better team, you play at a neutral site. However, they had home field "advantage" which worked against us. That's how it was. I'm not making excuses at all. I'm just telling you how it is. We got out coached. Plain and simple.

In contrast, I think Raceland will be prepared this week very well. Also, if we make it to next week, it will be a different game. I know this senior class wants to beat Williamsburg more than anyone else on their schedule to this point. But remember seniors, in order to do that, you must TCB this week first!

I hope we find out in a week and a half, I will take Williamsburg again this year at Raceland. Williamsburg does have excellent coaching, bu the players execute what the coaches coach. Williamsburg won't be worried about the bus ride after traveling to Harrison County and Newport this season.

Well if Raceland does beat Raceland, and somehow loses to Williamsburg again this year you can always use Thanksgiving break, and being out of their normal routine as an excuse. I won't even charge them for that one. :lol2::lol2:

We aren't out of a normal routine. Practice is at the same time, place, and intensity. Only difference is we all eat as a team after Thursday's practice together in the school cafeteria.

 

THEN, we go to the park and LARP with light sabers, go to the movies, mall, and orange leaf. That's our normal routine though so.

Saying one coach did a great job, is not saying the other coach caused the loss.

 

Again, the coaches have talked about the game, they know what happened. There has not been one moment of disagreement about that game amongst the fans, supporters, coaches or players. They all know why and how they lost that game.

It was said Raceland got "out coached", saying Williamsburg did a great job of planning for Raceland and did some things that Raceland hadn't seen before. Williamsburg was the better team and won the game.

 

Those that want to be offended, will find a reason to be offended.

To add to Ram, the team that prepares the best for the game, wins the game. The game isn't won on Friday, it is won on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. And that it what the coaching staff at Williamsburg did.

Yep nothing to do with Williamsburg having better players. SMH.
