November 10, 201411 yr The teams still go out at the 50 for the coin toss right? The HC is out there with the captains, I would think that would of been a perfect time to say something, but that's just me using common sense again. I'm not saying that there was no opportunity for Coach Love to get the info about the jersey changes over to Coach Nevels, but given the disruption to the normal pre-game procedures caused by Holmes' late arrival (whether accidental or not), I'm not going to hold it against Coach Love that he didn't get an updated roster into the hands of Coach Nevels before the game got going. I've spotted for hundreds of home games at Cov Cath, and I can tell you for sure that there are plenty of occasions where visiting teams show up and don't have updated rosters to exchange with the coaches - much less with the folks up in the pressbox. It happens, and you get over it. Also, maybe I'm a little foggy about it, but I don't recall too many occasions where the head coaches went out for the coin toss with their captains. I might be wrong there, but I can't remember that being standard operating procedure.

Are you serious, watch film...... you do not have to tell people about jersey changes unless you want to. May be bush league but......that your business as a coach.
November 11, 201411 yr Ashland was the better team and was the heavy favorite going in and they won going away. My only objection to what was written was that it seemed like Holmes was made out to be the perpetrator of all of the events from the game. I only stated an opposing view. No one can condone the issue of the player that was ejected and that I would imagine it will be dealt with. To exonerate Ashland of any wrong doing is a bit facetious. The Holmes staff extended the courtesy a week in advance that their starting QB would be wearing a different number because his jersey had to be cut off during a game earlier this year when he suffered an injury. Why didn't the Ashland staff extend the same courtesy? I mentioned that there were at least two players with different jerseys of the Ashland starters and most on here just focused one the one player when in fact there were two. Again, Holmes extended the common courtesy of their number change yet Ashland did not. I'm sure that Holmes figured out who Baker and the linebacker was once the game started, but during warmups they probably were trying to figure out who was who. If Ashland was so innocent why did members of their game operations come up to the Holmes staff and apologize for their players actions? With all of this being said, best of luck to Ashland as they advance in the playoffs.
November 11, 201411 yr Are you serious' date=' watch film...... you do not have to tell people about jersey changes unless you want to. May be bush league but......that your business as a coach.[/quote'] I guess the new jersey gave him super human strength.
November 11, 201411 yr You got two basic jobs to do when you play, on D it's STOP THE BALL! It doesn't matter who it is, or what number they are wearing, it all comes down to stoping the ball. Was this new jersey an invisibility cloak from Harry Potter? No one said a word about the new jersey numbers until after a few people mentioned about the actions of the Holmes coach and one of the Holmes players. Trying to change the thread by getting off topic? Wow, I never witnessed that on BGP before lol.
November 11, 201411 yr If Ashland denied access to the video of the last few home games in which Baker wore 9 then I would agree that it would have been a sportsman-like gesture to mention it at the coin toss. He probably should have also mentioned all the heights and weights that are not correct as well. If Holmes had access to the video in all games, it would not have been hard to figure out, provided you watch them. My guess is they only watched the Greenup and Johnson Central games which were both on the road and in which case as Lee Corso stated two players were wearing different numbers. This would be like making a C on an open book test. So if a coach puts a player in a different number and doesn't update the roster, the other team is supposed to guess that the kid in the new number is the missing player? Could it be a freshman player? It looks like the last 2 games before Holmes were the away games you mentioned. If that is what was traded, the onus would have been on Ashland to provide that information. I would hope most coaches would provide the courtesy of, "oh, by the way. Our stud RB wears a different number at home." Could have been an oversight. Either way, it is irrelevant at this point.

Couple things and I will let the horse die, well in this case it would be the jersey cow, 1. HUDL access would have been for the whole season video library I would guess and 2. Is it known for certain that there was no verbal courtesy given as it relates to Baker's number?

I would assume not based on this thread.
