One suggestion I have is that you should not limit your tweets to existing threads. Many people don't open the tweets with just a link. You want tweets to get replies and retweets. Get dialogue going and you may pick up some followers who then decide to check out the site.

I should add that linking to other interesting info from another site also will help gain followers. If you post a link to say, PFT, that I find interesting and retweet out to my followers they will see not only is it from PFT but also that it came to my attention (and ultimately theirs) through BGP's twitter account. I end up following a lot of accounts that I think can provide info I'm interested in. So, again, it doesn't have to be just BGP links. You get users by having good content regardless of whose content it is.
